World's Loudest Ground Pounders, (non walled)

Nice install... What made you want to do 2 seperate boxes though instead of one enclosure with the 4 subs in it ???

originally those boxes were for a 2006 corolla hatch, and bolted 2gether inside the car, they were built as 2 seperate boxes for a couple of reasons, main one being that the whole box is 6 layers of 12mm thick all round, as well as internal full length wave guides also in 6 layers of 12mm, lifting each box without woofers is near on impossible by yourself, i'd take a guess at around 150kgs, as i'm a pretty big guy and i can't lift them... so building just a single box would be just about impossible to get in and out of the corolla (had to be removable as it was a company car)

the boxes were originally made for a single 15" per box, and the waveguides were designed with that in mind, although the setup works quite nicely with 2x 15"s per box, there's now a ton of turbulence inside the box, which is hurting my scores massively,

a new common chamber box is on it's way, i should be building it in the next week or so, 5x 15"s in 16cf with 275sq" of port, tuned at 25hz, should do just the trick i'm thinking...

Ide say throw those boxes away make 1 box common chamber for all 4 15's and half as tall it would put up some better numbers and prolly lower your peak fq... and sound much much better!

yup! your right and thats exactly what i'm doing...

new box will only be 380mm (15") tall, and will take up around 22cf externally, and the rest of the cabin will come to around 60cf, close enough to a 1:3 ratio, as well as completely paneling off the rear to help airflow, gotta fix this flex issue too i'm thinking...

hopefully with the new box, and a few other things going on during this rebuild, and it should see me into the 150s...

I'll post pics and the last event page link with my results. I'm on my phone now. Ray, James and others can verify the numbers.

This system is temporary, as many, many are. The plan was for 4-15's, and a .5ohm load on the amp. But, it wouldn't matter on this charging system anyways, lol.

yup roberts truck gets down
