Amp gets VERY hot to the touch, what could cause this?

Title says it all. My amp gets really hot after playing for a while at a volume of 30/64. What are some reasons for this? so i can fix them. System in sig

Honda Accord 4 Door

Current System -

(2) 12'' Mtx Thunder 5500's

(1) Alpine Mrp-m1000 @4Ω

(1) Pioneer Deck Deh-3500

(1) American Legacy 1.0 Farad Capacitor

(1) Stinger Voltage Meter (Blue)

Big 3 Knu 1/0

what ohm load? i've read that these alpines get hot, i wouldn't know exactly though. maybe bad grounds or too small of wire either going to the amp or to the subs.

i think it happens every time i listen to music, i have been busy lately and haven't checked alot but when i do its hot, really hot. It's a 4 ohm load.

Yeah I bet its just the load. Those amps usually get hot. If its where it doesnt get circulation then it usually get hot.

It's Located on the top of the box, next to the Cap.

alpines can get warm pretty easy but if the ohm load is not right for the amp i have seen these get cooked eggs hot.

Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?

It's Located on the top of the box, next to the Cap.

My buddy had one hooked up to a Type x 12". It used to get hot and eventually started to shut off. Had a couple friends with these.

yah i had a mrp m1000 pushing a type r 15" at 2 ohms

and the amp would get really hot and turn off

but make sure your settings are right because after i fixed mine it seemed to run better
