Recommended Posts

i agree new box time, but im saving every cent i have for my 2 12 inch RE SXX's in a custom box, a speaker amp and infinity kappa 5.25 components up front to match the 3 way kappa 6x9's in the rear. i would say build log, but i dont trust myself with this just yet soo my freind is building me the custom box, and installing it all. it shouldnt be for a while, considering im in school every day and i dont even have a new job yet.. but im workin on it soo.

Welding cable is copper, not cca. Copper is copper is copper. Welding cable has less strand count than "premium" ofc wire. Which means less flexibility, but how tight do you need it to curve? No one does figure 8's with their wire. Welding cable isn't as "pretty" as premium cable, but will leave a lot more dough in your wallet.

I have the big 3 done w/ welding cable in my car. I had to use a good amount as well because my battery is under my rear seat. I got mine from welding supply . com and it's the cheap black 1/0. Here's what I can tell about it...

It's slightly smaller than good car audio 1/0 (based on the fact that it sits pretty loose in 1/0 ring connectors)

It has a smaller strand count, but the strands are a bit thicker

Not extremely flexible, but plenty flexible to get my job done

I think for the price it's fine, though. I'm pretty sure mine was like $2/foot on sale when I bought it. That being said, if I hadn't wanted to save some money I would have probably used Knu Fleks.

Especially if you figure run length for a vehicle.....welding cable good for 300 amps over 100ft. So say you average 40 ft (batt - amp - back to batt) The welding 1/0 is prolly good for 350ish? Not many people will even use that for their daily. Save the coin. Hide the wire. And using it under the hood looks factoryish.
