4 18" LVL 5 box questions

Recommended Posts

Sorry just noticed you will be running double the RMS of the level 5. I thought it said 1 2500 per sub.

He had/has double the RMS, as you will, going to the subs.

So if you go with a smaller box or a to spec box with small port area(according to the rule of thumb of 12-16 sq in) and tuned low, you will probably get good results and a gain in power handling.

Sorry for coming off as a dick I thought you were going to be running near the RMS of the level 5. :drinks:

20 cubes after all displacement with that much power, and at least 446.67 sq inches of port if you want to tune to 28 hertz. If you don't have enough room for that much port then go with less woofers.

The port is not determined by volume it is determined by the xmax of the woofer you are using, there for the basic rule of thumb 12-16 sq inches of port is incorrect.

Use this calculator to determine the port area need.
