But how much would you estimate the repair would be? and if someone would be kind enough to explain what exactly gain does and how do I know what my box is tuned to? Also, how do I know what to set my gain to?

Your looking $100 bucks maybe more for the repair plus shipping.

Just trust me when I tell you to buy a new amp. You're going to pay more than 45$ in shipping and repairs + labor alone. There's a tutorial on here on how to set your gains with a DMM.

For 45 bucks it was just a matter of time on it till it went regardless on where you set the gain, sadly you get what you pay for. If you can return it for a refund i would go and do that and use the money towards a budget amp like an audiopipe 1500, great amp for what you pay and take some beating unlike the amp you just got.
