Mechman Alternators

Recommended Posts

i have just ordered a 270a mechman alternator for my 03 explorer and i was wondering what else exactly i would need to support an audioque 3500 (the new model). i currently have one kinetik 2400 in the back and only 1 run on 0 gauge. i plan on getting more 0 gauge and more batteries but i was just curious on how much of both i would need. i am also running roughly 800w on my door speakers. any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance

Um, big 3.

Add another run or two of 0

Swap out for XS

Once swapped for XS upgrade starter and get a D3100...or two

=)

oo i got ya, i thought he meant the actual starter that turns the motor over lol. wow feel kinda stupid now. the only reason i have a kinetik battery is because i get a really good deal on them. are the xs batteries really that much better? if so i might have to just go ahead and switch over.

With a single 270 you should be good on alt power. I would swap over to XS though. I changed over from kinetik to XS and the difference is HUGE. If you can still get in on the holiday group buy then do it. They are giving great deals on batteries right now. As far as supporting an AQ3500, I would get whatever size will swap out for your front battery and get a 3100 for the back. 2 runs front to back ought to serve you nicely as well.

One of our 270 amp alts, a Kinetik 2400 in back, and an XS power D3400 under the hood (it will fit in the stock tray) will power 3500 watts no problem. That would be your cheapest option.
