So I have the big 3 and using 4 gauge for power, I want to upgrade to 0 AWG, I can use the 4 gauge I currently have as ground?

I am going to run 2 Punch 1000's or an AQ2200.

if you upgrade the positive and not the negative then you're wasting money and time...electrons flow from negative to positive, and will only see the smallest wire in the circuit...if you have 4/0 all around with a 10 gauge ground it will be like having 10 gauge all around...you will have a bottleneck of current at the ground.

the diagram reads that its optional evcept for high wattage systems? Do I still need it for 2000 - 2500 ? I do have the battery in back grounded to the chasis.

yes...I would upgrade to the largest cable you can afford no matter how much power you're consuming.

Not exactly, if you are running directly off the alternator(power and ground) to your battery bank/amplifiers, then the chassis grounds doesn't make any difference.

from the batteries and the amps they do

You can run power and ground direct off the alternator and never touch the chassis ground, batteries and amps wired direct to the charging source via a large diameter cable is far superior to using a lesser conductive metal like a vehicle chassis.

absolutely!! I agree with that 110%...but power and ground still need to be the same size.
