Went out for ammo this afternoon and came back with a gun....

FNX9. Shop happened to have all the FNX line in. I had wanted the 45 but came to the quick realization that its taller grip and longer barrel were going to make concealment a bit harder. Have not shot it yet as it was dark out and raining by the time I made it home.

Spent most the morning shooting. Started by running 250 rounds through the FNX. Shoots great. Not too snappy even with 124gr ammo. Ordered some 9mm in bulk for it this evening. Then I spent the rest of my morning dialing in my gas block on the 308 before zeroing the scope for 100 yards. Shoots a lot nicer with the correct gas setting and didn't have any failures in the 150 rounds I ran through it. All in all good day.

Picked up a Shield 9, the wife enjoyed shooting it last night, so it'll be a good gun for us to share when we go to the range. A few more paychecks and I'll pick up the 45 and this will become just hers probably.

With the Springfield promotion going on I'm surprised you want to the shield. It's what swayed me

i considered the XDS for that promotion, but I'm a fan of thumb safety, and as far as I know the XDS doesn't have that option. Nothing I could find led me to see it anyways.

The thumb safety might be "too much safety" or that the fraction of a second it takes to thumb it down is too long for some in a possible situation for use, but it makes me more comfortable, and my muscle memory tells me to thumb it during the draw.

My match gun has a thumb safety and it's not an impediment you learn to draw and push it down Thad all.

xds hs hs a grip safety

Oh ok. Well, I'll keep Springfield in mind for the next time around. I'll rent it next time I'm in the market and see how I feel about the grip safety.

Holster for the xds came today. Ordered a revolution from stealth gear USA. I need to adjust the retention and get it set up but I think I'm going to like it. I'll get some pictures up at some point
