First Time Fiberglassing Dorr Pannels ( Pics+ Advice Needed)

Well this is my second attempt at glassing and i think its going better. First was with a kickpannel that turned out way to big and way to ruff. So i started on some door pannels. So far i modled the shape of the original door pannel and made a nice mold. Thet trimmed it a bit. Then i glued down some speaker rings and rapped it with an old t shirt and 4 layers of glass. Its trying now so no picks in the dark. I need some hlp though guys.

1. When using the bondo do i cover the entire pannel or just the ruff and wrinckled spots?

2. I am having two component sets and a 6.5" midbass, i was told to have the midbass in its own chamber and seal it from the others? Its a free air driver so im not sure what to do. Should i even seal the thing at all? I already have it sealed since i did the mold as the bottm and and then rapped it. Shoul i cut some holes in the back of the pannel so the entire setup can breath?

3. What will be the best way to secure the pannel to the original door pannel. It fits over it nice and snug maybe just some screws through it from inside the speaker holes? Maybe epoxy it? Any ideas?

4. And lastly whats the best paint cans to use for primmer, final coat and a sealant? Any speacial spray paint? Thanks for all the help.

Ok cool. But as far as sealed with the drivers should i create a seperate chamber for the midbass?

it wouldnt hurt but i dont think the midbass will cause any problems witht the 6.5. i have a set of 8 inch kicker midbass(ssmb8) in the same chamber as my set of eclipse 6.5 components and its fine. although my pod is alittle bigger than yours...but u should be fine

Ok cool. The components im using are kicker RS 5 1/4" and the midbass is a kicker smb6.5

not a big fan of the kicker mids(i sell kicker!), but the midbass r great. as long as u got the carbon fiber cone. be sure to passive crossover the midbass. something like 200 htz to 500 htz. only.

Yea i was wondering how exactly do you crossover a signal at two spots, like hi pass it at 80 Hz and low pass at 500 Hz? How would i go about doing this. I have a kicker 3 way active crossover and a hifonics 2 channel a/b amp for the midbass's

Basiclly u have to double crossover it. depending on your crossover u could use the kicker 3 way in high pass and set at about 150 htz then use the crossover on the amp and set it to low pass as high as it goes. if the amps crossover is too low then u might have to get a inline passive crossover like a f-mod.

That was exaclty what i was going to do hi pass at the crossover and low pass the amp. I was planning on hi passing at 80 Hz cause thats were my sub stops at at then the comps at like 100 or 120

SSMB6 cant handle under 150 htz. my ssmb8 r at 120 and i had to lower the gain a little. if u want max output without the midbass bottoming out set hp to around 150.
