  1. OP, if you're talking about one of those stock 8" sealed enclosures, and SD-2 8" would work better, but make sure you check out the mounting depth and cutout size.

If the cutout size is too small you'll need to check if it's possible to enlarge it. If the mounting depth is too shallow, you'll need a spacer (which might mean that you'll have to leave the plastic cover off)

Probably your best bet for an SA-8 would be to build an enclosure. If you wanted to keep a factory look, and the SD-8" wont fit in the stock enclosure, you're going to have to measure out if a fiberglass enclosure would fit inside of that panel, and build yourself one.

If you were thinking of doing Infinite Baffle (free air into the trunk), neither driver would be optimal for an Infinite Baffle alignment. If possible, I would look into maybe doing at least a single 12", I recommend Fi Car Audio's IB3's. For inspiration, here's a good example of IB3 12's installed into a trunk:

  2. He's trying to put the sub in a cutout made for a factory alpine setup that wasn't an option. Dafuk. Just build a damn sealed or ported

it was an option decided to make my own setup since I always redo system in all the cars I buy

I can always build a sealed or ported box and be like everyone else im trying to do something different was trying to see if anyone has tried it or is also trying to do this and what route there going

It is a creative idea, but that cutout was most likely designed to work with the alpine subs they use

    yeah I know

ive seen other subs installed like shallow mount subs in the dart forum but I wouldn't know how they sound ive ask but no response yet

trying to think out the box

I guess plan B it is 2 fi sd 10'' with custom box ......

    thanks

  3. He wants to keep it totally stock basically. The depth of the SA will never work in that stock location. The magnet is damn wide too. And no, the SA will not work in a free air environment, not well anyway.

that was my worry too I don't have the sa8 here with me to see fitment I figure the that sub has a big ass motor and didn't know if it would fit I have the specs but didn't see the point in checking if the setup its self wouldn't work free air
