Would a FI BL 15 be a better choice over the x15?
Your not allowed to do comparisons or vs between two different products.
I also think the x-15 if you tune the box right and gave it enough power you'd be happy with it.

Id run with this for an amp. http://www.1800woofers.com/products/crescendo-audio-bc2000d-2250-watts-x-1-mono-block-bass-clef-series-amplifier.html
Crescendo is also stable down to .5 ohm. so if you wanted you could still run the d2 sa 12's wired to .5 ohms.
I have two sa-12's at 2ohm on a 900 rms amp. Its in a prefab box. They get loud. Some songs make my ears tickle lol.
-
Thanks clean! And yeah, he's helping. Only reason I was .5 ohm was I'm using dual 2 ohm subs. I already bought one of them for sizing and to play with for shits n giggles. Guess if I have to I can sell that one and buy dual 4 ohm subs. To run 1ohm.

someone is helping me with the box design and numbers. Once we get the box where we want it. Its gonna be a secret . and if it makes you guys happy, I will build a box for 4 of the 12's to start out with till I get the rest of the equipment and build the big box.
-
Also please remember two x-12 will be on a crescendo 3500 at .5ohms

why not just do 4 18"? more cone area, so you'll get more shakes.
I don't want 18's... I want 12's.
And can we not worry so much about numbers. They are still gonna get tweaked. There not final. I would however like some feed back on the how its shaped and supports... and location of amps?
-
port is way too small..... i would use that port for maybe 2 18s..... you have the cone area of almost 4 18's....
I know, Im working on making it atleast 10 sqin per cuft. Clio box is tuned like that.
-
RE did the box after talking with 1clio6. Took his advise. Came up with this. The supports are half inch threaded rod. triple baffle on top, double all around. And I even put the amps on front of the box. Lemme know what you guys think of that. P.s. Yes I'm gonna round the edges of the port and supports in the port. Also the cut outs are the actually size of the gasket of the speaker. Not sure why i did that lol. Cut out is inch n half less in diameter sp 3/4 inches off each side. so its not so scarey looking at how close the holes are lol.

seee you are thinking in whats going to look cool. not whats going to work. Your wire runs with amps in each window are going to be retarded long. not to mention you will have to fabricate a mount that can take abuse to hold them. more than likely it would need welded in as well or lse its not going to last. If you really want some amps to come humpty dumptying then by all means you can get away with cutting corners.
I just thought it would be a good spot for the amps since I'm keeping the back seats. I don't wanna have room under the seats due to that is where the 1100.4's are going. And the bats are going under the front of the box where the 3rd row seating folds down into. Only other option would be to mount them on the front of box behind the seats. Would be closer to the bats :0

You have an expedition. I'm sure you have more than enough room. Don't worry about tuning to 28 hz. As long as you arent overpwoering some ungodly amount you can still play under tuning. Id shoot for 33 or so to be honest. But you need to build bigger stronger and better with more port area. That thing would shred itself in minutes single baffled all the way around.
I know, my measurements were with the side panels still intact, I still gotta rip all that good stuff out and get some new measurements and see what im working exactly. The amps I wanna put two racks in, 1 on each side of the car in the windows slanted. I just gotta dive in and get a box built So I can build the rest of the car lol.
^^^Agree with the others. 300+ inches of port to start and 1.5" on all sides. Tuning in mid to low 30s. Those subs will do their job in a box without high 20s tuning. High 20s is silly to me if you plan on playing ANYTHING other than Decaf or chopped and screwed music.
I really only been playing decaf and low hitting songs. Don't big into high note songs. I will change it if i don't like how it hits.
this is what i came up with. Port is still small for me, but not knowing how much height you are willing to give up, this is about as good as it is going to get. Doubled all around, triple baffle, didnt do bracing because it is just a visual representation.
Thanks for the help with specs. I will take them into consideration . I kinda wanna keep the top of the box level with the top of my back seats head rest. but I may have to sacrifice that want lol.

the only problem I have is to get the port area up, I loose my tuning :/ it goes up to like 42

Thanks guys for you thoughts on concerns. I can assure you I have decent knowledge of car audio, I also have been researching for the past 3 months. Its part of the reason why my ex gf left me. I was researching 24/7 after work and paying her no attention. Plus girlfriend = less subs and spending all my money lol.
Just like keith77 stated, I'm here for advise. I just want a 2nd pair of eyes on the plans to make sure I haven't over looked something like a double baffle that slipped my mind. If you guys want you can plug my numbers into the calc and make your suggestions on port area.
On a side note I already have two 12's in my car. I did all the work myself. Plus in order to learn something you have to try it. you fail you try again. I don't give up easy. I do hardwood floors for a living, When we have to resand a floor cause of marks or a huge scratch from a damn painter i don't give up lol .
And to bighoss Before I turn anything on I will double triple and quad check everything. I will also have a friend from a car audio shop whos pretty good at installing come over and take a look.
So hit me with tips and tricks and such, Don't discourage me. That will just make me wanna do it solo without any of your guys help or concerns.
-
hah yeah thats the one, that was a joke by the way lol. And lets not let it steer off topic with shakes....
By the way, Just posting this so I can get more eyes on it to make sure I didn;t forget anything.I will be bracing the top too, I will do three sheets of birch then put bracing under it to hold it up in the parts of the middle.

This is my box design for my 8 x-12 build that will be powered by 4 Crescendo audio 3500's. Thinking Ill run 2ohm till there broken in some and loosen up. At which point I will drop them to .5 ohm and let them get down n dirty. Lemme know what you guys think of the box design.
The subs will be pointing up and port will be towards the back. It is designed so Ill have 6-8 inches of space between the port and back wall of my expedition.

This makes me feel like the setup I planned for my electrical is gonna be inefficient for my use. Was gonna install two Singer 340 alts, d3400 under the hood, 7 d3100's in the back for 4 cresecendo 3500w amps and two crescendo 1100.4's. Yeah i think I need to get back to the drawing board for my electrical lol.

from my understanding, the x's are ment for getting down low and the zv4's are for more spl. I might be wrong but that is just what I was told.
-
Same with mine Daniel....no email yet, i'll call tomorrow
EDIT***** So I'm now being told by someone with a pair of x-12's that they are to be calculated using the zv4 box specs.....
isnt the zv4 motor bigger than the x12?
-
I have an email from them, the .12 you are referring to is the displacement excursion. He never really told me what the actually displacement from the sub in volume would be.When my x-12 came in it didn't have any spec sheets in it or anything for warranty. Just a sub and a sticker . They wont even put the specs up on the website for them.

Box size changes with tuning. Use a box calc online to get specifics. That subs displacement is 0.12cuft excursion, you're looking at around 3-4in

It's like that here. There is a shop near me that sells sundown. I bought one x-12 for sizing and stuff and paid 418$ after tax. I can get them all day long off online shops for 345$. When your gonna be doing a install like me with 8 subs, a price difference of 70$ a sub times 8 is big enough to change my mind on where i buy them from. I love supporting local places but sometimes there price difference is crazy... I asked a while ago on the price for a saz 3500 v2, they wanted almost 1400 for it. I can find it online for 1124.
There was a lady in there getting pricing for a simple install. Two 10's a 1000 watt amp, new head unit, deadner in doors with new speakers in the doors and all the wire and installation. Guy quoted her for almost 3500$. I was like wtf? I was so tempted to stop her outside and tell her she could meet up one night and id show her the same stuff but from online for a fraction of the price and install it all myself in 1 day (they wanted 4 days) for just a few hundred dollars. But i didn't wanna be that guy that steals customers outside a shop. lol
