So i currently living in pennsylvania where it is cold as hell currently about 10 degrees. I went out to start my truck today and the it wouldnt turn over. i didn't get anything from my battery at all. I tried a couple hours later and the dash lights wouldn't even turn on everything was just dead. I have a 2004 f150...with a yellowtop under the hood. Please help

-

I played for canyon high school in Socal. I played center i was number 67 and i was all cif 2 years and all state senior year

well a 260 is better than stock. as long as you have a couple of good batteries with a a minimum of 2 runs of 1/0, you'll be fine. yeh it sucks for us Ford owners. i haven't seen a dual alt setup either. you getting that missinglink module right? if so that will help too as you already may know.
ya. oh well cant do much about it....dual alt would be AMAZING but i dont know that that will ever happen. im just going to have to wait till i get out of college and save some cash and get a chevy, cadillac, etc. preferably a nice big longbed crew cab cuz iv been thinking something up now for a while.
-
i'd do a 220 and a 300, that way you get some good idle power
Iraggi got back to me and said tht he doesn't hve a dual mount for ford. the biggest alt I can get is a 260 is that ok? and what should i do to make up for that in the rest of the electrical?
-
ok thanx everybody. well cuz of the new set up im gonna have room under the outside seats in the back so im gonna put 2 3100s under there right now and then eventually probably mount them somewhere else.
-
What type of vehicle is it? You might be able to get a Powermaster under the hood.
2004 f150.....there isnt much room under the hood. so id just put it underneath the backseat
-
Keep the yellowtop as a starting battery and just get some d3100 for the rear.
ok. 2? each one hooked to a 4 channel and hk4000d?
-
i'd do a 220 and a 300, that way you get some good idle power
ok the 300 says its 135 idle
and there is a 240 that is 165 idle
is that high enough? so considering the heat issue that missinglink brought up i could count on probably 340 amps driving and then 300 idle? would that be enough? the battery thing also are the yellowtops ok? or is it worth it to shell out the extra hundred for powermaster?

Well what kinda car is the most important question?
A single 300 amp alt once HOT will lower its output because of internal heat. You should only count on 200amps at max for your output in most single alt cases due to heat (internally controlled), and the rest of your cars components. If you want 2 -4000D's and 2- 4ch amps you are looking @ well over ANY single alt /battery or ies limits. One 300amp alt and 4 big batteries might keep up for a little bit, but you will need to keep a close eye on your voltage. If the voltage drops quick then you do not have enough storage and your alt wont be able to keep up. 2-4000d and 2 -4ch amps will pull well over any alts output compacity. One alt on 4 batteries with that much draw will have a hard time keeping up. Check on the idle output if you will play at shows/demo alot most 300amp alts have a low idle output. Hope some of this helps ,good luck

hey thanks. ok then well its one of the iraggi alts and it says it idles at 135. so then should i try to get 2 300s then??
also thanks everyone for the input and help

Somewhere seriously told you to just buy a cap with that kinda power? lol
hahaha well they said cap my original system which was just 2 10" qs running off a hk4000d and then the p4004 for the doors.....but ya now im doing 2 12"s and then adding 2 pairs(that makes 4 right?) of components and putting components in all the doors instead of just the 5x7s that i got. I got an yellowtop under the hood right now. so general census is what? 2-3 more batteries? running 2 4000 watt amps and then the 2 4 channels.....does it matter if i have a yellowtop as my starter battery and then would it hurt anything if i use powermasters for everything else?
-
battery ....can hold many times the amps as a cap....
ok sweet. could you help me out with my electrical system as to what i will need? im upgrading to a 300 amp alt. and then what else will i need? its going to be 2 hk4000d amps and 2 p4004 amps.

I am pretty new to the whole thing and i hear different things. One store i go to says all I will need is a beefy cap. While if i go to another store they tell me im going to need multiple batteries. Which is better?
-
good high end comps and more power in front stage
ok then. so how does pillars up front and then kick panel? and also what do you think in terms of batteries and alts and the eletrical side?
-
aw, you can listen to it daily as you have it planned but it will as i stated be all sub and like no mids and highs at high volume
recommendation?
-
and this is for a sq setup?
your front stage is going to die trying to keep up with the sub frequencies
I just posted it in the sq forum cuz im not trying to enter competitions. I want it as loud as i can but still usable in a daily application.

I have a 2004 F150 super crew. Walling off the back seat isnt an option but I am going to take out the middle seat from the back seat and center console the back seat. Im going to try and put either 2 12 or 2 15 btls. What would fit and how much airspace will I need? and will I have enough? For amps im thinking the hifonics brutus 2608 one on each. I have one p4004 on the door speakers right now. i was going to get another one and put components in the pillars. And finally the electrical system. Im already planning on upgrading the alt but should I get one or 2 high output alts? and then for batteries? 2 kinetik or yellowtop? or more than 2? any info or input would be appreciated
