  1. well pretty much the title explains it.

i built a box for my 2 18in BTLs ...subs up, port along the bottom facing to the rear of my truck. its 11cu ft at 34hz....

i dont know what i might have did wrong but im not happy with it...sound wise and on the meter..(146.6 on the TL)

so im comin to you guys to help a brother out.

my dimensions are 44wide, 24 height, doesnt really matter how deep..

i want to do swappable ports to so i can burp them at local comps.

maybe its just me being used to 12s or its my box but i hate not having bass on every song...just seems like it only picks up the real low notes and nothin higher

whats your box tuned to? also whats your lp set at?

  2. well ud need at least 4-5", if you dont have it then yeah, 2nd design will work, it will sound better the other way cause im guessing the phases will be closer to eachother then port in cabin....

we wont know til u try! :)

ok i think ill try it....i just hope that there is enough room between the subs and trunk lid to get air moving into the cabin...only about 2 inches

  3. The second design is a good design. Subs up and port fireing into the cabin works really well!

but will it be louder that what decaf said and fire port against trunk wall???? Se since this box is so big and takes up all of the trunk, if the port was firing to the back of the trunk there isent too much room for the air and wave to get into the cabin...thats why i was thinking design two as well

  4. ~140sqin port, subs up port back

i would think u would have weird cancellation with the subs front wave interacting w/the trunk space/rear deck first and port in cabin first

so 2nd design but turn it around........ unless you plan on walling it..!!??!!

would wall it but its a daily driver and i kinda need the back seats lol.

so subs up port back like crx style? How much space should ther ebe between the port and the rear of the trunk?

  5. Ive owned my e6600 conroe for almost two years (got em the day they went on sale :) ) ....ive had it at 3.6Ghz ever since and not a single problem once i found stable settings.....they are great procs even if not overcloking....i havent had any first hand experance with the core 2 quad but if your not a muli tasker or video encoder i would say go with the dual core at the higher speed

  6. Ok im finally ready to get my build going, got all equipment and the weather is starting to get a little better (as i look out the window and see a blizard lol).....anyway im kinda stuck here on how to face the ports and subs...i know the best would be to put sub and port facing into cabin (rear seats fold down) but i cant do that unless all i want is 80sq" of port area wich is not enough for two 15" MT's....so here are a few options i did a quik sketch with on google

    Equipment is in my sig,

all 4 boxes are about 9 cubes after displacment with 140sq" of port at a length of 16" is about 39Hz

Also keep in mind that all four could also be done with aero ports, i just didnt have the time to make ports for all the boxes on sketch up

what i want to know is, what one will be the loudest, all will be in the trunk seeted the same way

Box 1 with subs up to trunk lid and ports into cabin at top

    box1.jpg

Same thing but with port at bottom

    box2.jpg

Subs firing into cabin with port up to trunk lid

    box3.jpg

Subs firing into cabin with ports facing rear of trunk

    box4.jpg

Here is what the trunk looks like (not my car just a pic i found on the net)

    25e1_3-1.jpg

hopefuly you all can get the idea on the boxes

    Thanks for the help
