As always just give us a call at 888 MECHMAN or email us at [email protected] or [email protected]. We can probably help to get you in the alt that best fits your needs. We have done this once or twice in the past 36 years since we have been in business.
I sent a email to [email protected] on the 28th, with no response as of yet.

if its a diesle, get the most output at IDLE you can. You will want the LOWEST turn on you can find.
The revs on oil burners hardely see 2k for total output. And idle is even worse. There are half a dozen people on here with smokers that hate their top output with their 600-800$ after market alts.
Get the badest idle you can find, and youll be happy.
Yeah, its diesel..
Anyone have a link so I can simply put it in my cart and buy it?
Or how do I contact stevemeadedesigns.com? As his contact page doesnt work.

Since you're only running less than 2k and im assuming its a daily I'd get what ever alt will give you most output at idle.
It may not be their biggest alt out there but you don't need them biggest one anyways.
Whatever you go with make sure it's a hairpin 6 phase.
Did you have a specific alt you were looking at?
No, not yet. Thats why Im here.
Im looking for a long lasting alt I can trust I wont have to replace every year.
High amperage at 800 rpm sounds great because my cruising rpm is 2000 at 70 mph.
My problem is my existing alt is a 6 groove pulley and probably from the existing van. The cummins engine is 8 groove pulleys and I hoped I could finally use a 8 groove belt if my alt was 8 groove. I just replaced my a/c compressor with 8 groove.
Can you help me choose one, or build one for me?

How do I determine what size alt I need when looking at the combined watts of my amplifiers and what not?
Thanks!
How to determine what size alt?

I need less than 1000 watts for my system and I'm shopping for dependability, more than huge amperage.
So it looks like all those alternators are over kill.
I idle about 800 rpm, but how that translates to belt speed is directly related crank shaft pulley diameter.
The pulley diameter on my existing alternator is 2 9/16" with the belt on it. A little over 2 1/2" and I don't want to change diameter because my belt tension would change if I didn't change the belt out for a shorter one going to a smaller pulley.
I cruise at 70 mph at 2000 rpm. Red line is 3000 rpm
