  1. I dig the the new site @SundownAudio! However under the recommendations for the Ev2 12", it now says recommended tuning @32 Hz for a vented enclosure. I could swear it said 35 Hz before. I'm currently about to start a build for a single 12" D4 and I'm lost on the box. Idk wtf to do now.

    System info:

    1995 Ford Taurus

    Alpine CDE153BT

    Kicker KS 6.5 2-way coaxial (F)

    Kicker DS 6x8 2-way coaxial ®

DECK POWER:( Volume limit sans distortion with HPF on @60 is 23

    Hifonics ZRX1216.1 (Brand New)

    Sundown Ev2 12" D4 with no box!!! :(

    (Old Bass setup was a Sony XM-GTR1852 Bridged @ 4 Ohms feeding 2 10" RF P1S2 sealed)

I'm trying to pull as much Spl and Sq out of this sub as possible with this setup. I'm buying a 2001 GMC Jimmy in a couple months and I refuse to dump money into my current vehicle's electrical. I'm using this build as further learning experience for my next vehicle's system. I worked as a cabinet maker for some time and can build just about anything. I don't particularly want to do a 4th or 6th on this sub, I would like to stay with a simple vented. I may kerf it. Not sure yet. I listen to rap 95% of the time, but would like to retain some flexibilty for Rock and Country. Oregon girls and country music... smh! Lol.

  2. For sure. Experience is a great teacher. My first overpriced JL system was cool but I had that done by a pro who recently retired:/ I feel like sundown is more bang for the buck these days. For the Blazer I'm thinking of a vented around 5.3 cubes @32 Hz for the Sa12s. I'm just dreading pulling the whole rig apart. I'm gonna be running 6 sets of components. Kick panels, all 4 doors, and 2 sets in the rear. it'll be done perfectly even if it takes time. I'm way too meticulous for my own good. And my job is 9 months a year lol.

  3. I already have funds set aside for my vehicle, an Scv2000D, 2 sa 12s, and the necessary electrical to back it up. Im not touching that money yet though. I'm waiting on my uncle to buy a new truck (tax season) so I can buy his '01 blazer. my little sister is a new driver, so I dont want to go nuts. This sub could end up paired with a sundown 600 if it kills the sony though. Tbh Ive beaten the piss out of that sony and it's still going. It's proven quite resilient lol.

  4. So my first thread became inaccessible? I has no permission to view. I own a 1995 Ford taurus with stock electrical. I'll only have this car for few more months. My setup was Alpine CDE-153BT; kicker Ks 6.5" Fronts; Kicker Ks 6x8s in the rear deck; and a Sony XM-GTX1852 bridged for my sub amp (rated at 400 watts @ 4ohms only, it is not 2/1 ohm stable). My old subs were 2 RF P1S2's in a sealed enclosure. Now for my question... I got rid of my subs for some extra holiday cash as my debit card inconveniently expired a few days ago. I get a new one on the 28th, and would like to order a Sundown sub. Ive become a fan of sundown after hearing that beast of an SA-12. I don't feel like Id have the power to make an SA play yet but idk for sure. Ive looked at the E 10/12 and Sa 10/12, in a vented enclosure. I has teh wood working skills and equipment to even do a horn ported if I wanted. But, ultimately? Which sub? Enclosure ideas? In trunk? Or back seat? I'm wanting to maximize SPL while still retaining decent musical SQ. I understand the lack of power but there's not alot I can do with this car. I'm not touching the electrical. I'm getting an 01 GMC JIMMY come tax returns, that ride is for the big boy pants build. Edit: Amp does truly push 400 RMS or very close to it.
