  1. ok just got my dd1 in the mail and as you know with any new toy you have to play with it. i went to set my sub gains and my sub amp shows distortion before i even see a signal. i have the gain all the way down frequency all the way up cross over on my deck set normal 80hz low pass 90 high pass for mids, i can tune the mids amp fine but not the sub. eq is set to flat also. any ideas why it is doing this?

  2. ok i just picked up a dd1 and had one question about grounding i know you should ground to the amp it self but on my matts amp with the wire in it i cant clamp on due to it being a round terminal with a wire that takes up the whole terminal. so my question is can i ground to my highs amp or my distribution block?

  3. so i am thinking of getting some ssa gcon 12s for my truck i dont really want a prefab box even tho one i heard today sounded good with 1 15 in it. but the box i drew up in my head before i really measured any thing in my truck(04 f150 xlt super cab). the box will be built out of 3/4" mdf and prolly doubled up on top or fiber glassed so the subs sit flush. if my math is right it should have 6.46376 cubic feet before sub displacement and 6.16376 cubic feet after sub displacement. it should be tuned to 32hz if ever thing is right.

here are all the measurements i have of it.

Box Dimensions for SSA Gcon 12" x2

    36" width x 19" height x 20" depth .75" mdf = 6.46376 cubic feet before sub displacement

    6.16376 feet after sub displacement

    slot port =

    Port width 20" x port height 2" x port length 11" = 32hz at 6.46376 cubic feet.

and a rendering in sketch up. its really rough but gives the idea.

also should i go with the slot port like i have drawn up or should i do a round port? let me know what you guys think.

  4. Use a DMM and check the coils.

would i hook it up to a amp and hook it to a dmm or just a speaker wire going to a radio? the only amp i have access to right now is a 2000rms and this sub is only 200 rms :( i wish it was more but i cant complain it is free.

No, put the meter on OHMs and hook the positive and negative probes straight to the terminals of the sub and it will tell you the ohm of the coils

ok got ya. when i go out for a cig ill check it i think i have my dmm in my truck. lets just hope the battery isnt dead it has had the same battery for like 2 years but i never use it
