  1. 6.5 is reccomended, but you can always go a little more or less

your port will likely take up a cubic foot or two depending on tuning, so plan on going a bit bigger

if you end up with less than 6.5, and a smaller than usual port, u get a "safer" box, where the output is decreased, but the subs can handle more power and are harder to bottom out, but overall they arent as loud and quality suffers a bit

going too large, it gets louder, and probably lower, but its much easier to do damage to the subs

  2. anything is possible with some hacking, to go to altel from say, verizon, you can sometimes get away with changing the firmware and then registering the IMEI number with verizon as a new fone, easiest at one of their kiosks

verizon reps=retards, i had one tell me that a memory card from the verizon kiosk wouldnt work in my motorola a1200 with at&t sim....

they're trained to cover their asses and use the FAQ section of the verizon website.

  3. i remember back in the day i sued to get "dead" rechargable r/c car batteries from my buddies and hook it up to a higher voltage charger for a day or two, free batteries ftw.

you never really get back 100% capacity though, just going on something simple, my car ran for 20 mins on a charge, a sulfated battery would run like 4-5 mins, after reconditioning you got like 16-17 mins. It def helps, but once the damage is done its not 100% reversable

  4. the game changes so fast its ahrd to keep up

its only a few years ago that 850watt amps were 3 feet long and cost a few thousand

and it wasnt that long ago that the world db record was 160...which some people now pull on music in a daily driver

  5. hate to dig up an old thread but, DO NOT USE FINGERNAIL POLISH REMOVER

acetone, especially in higher concentrations, will leave you with bare friggin metal. I've definately seen people who tried that and ended up with a nice round spot of aluminum on their otherwise perfect beemer, dont even risk it.

but x2 on kerosene, that works great, and hit up autozone for plastic razor blades. Ive used plastic blades and kerosene to get bumper stickers off of paint, sap, stickers off of tint (kids put them on the inside of a customer's window, not kerosene but vinegar), and that bright ass yellow roadpaint that people love to drive through and get all over their side skirts and bumpers that lasts like 10 years on a road. Well, that stuff usually needed some hardcore solvent if it dried on for a while.

kerosene and plastic razor blades, follow it up with terrycloth or microfiber, and dont sit there huffing that shit or you get a mean headache

also, if its been sitting for a while, dont try and polish it off with compound and a buffing wheel, 9 out of 10 times itll take clear or paint off with it, that stuff is usually pretty acidic, as is the red bird poop (they eat berry's, lots of acid) Get both off as soon as possible or you get alot of little pits and stuff in your paint.

  6. i got jumped once and got everything stolen, phone, glasses, keys, everything i had on me

between getting my car towed home, locksmith, new keys, new alarm system, new glasses (with no insurance ftl), and the missed days of work iw as out like $1k

somehow it was the only time my wallet wasnt in my pocket, hooray for no pocket basketball shorts. i left it in my car, along with 2 weeks pay in cash, debit cards, licence, fake id's, student id's, and all the other stuff you have, and spare keys to my mom and now ex-girl friends house

you cant be tight until you SEE your stuff taken from you

  7. somewhere around 5k for audio, prob 2k on repairs

this car has definately seen like 4 hu's, 3 different sets of speakers, a few amps, and alot of different subs.

durango before this, dumped prob 6k into, all repairs though....in a year....bad idea to take that thing offroading, punctured a gas tank, 4 new wheels (fancy bf goodriches), 3 thermostat housings, a dif, brakes, transfer case. That truck was the worse thing ever invented....now my sister has it and thinks its the coolest thing ever cuz she got it for free and doesnt pay for gas. My 45 mile commute was a 2-300$/week problem

car before that was a 93 camry....didnt even get it an oil change, blew up after 3 months and scrapped it. My uncle spent like 2k on it trying to make it run(technicaly was going to be my cousins, but he didnt have a license yet, and i lived with them and drove him to school, so it was kinda mine, plus i needed to get to work)

  8. everyone on here has something different, there is no "best" subwoofer, chances are there will be alot that work for you. from preference, 2 tens is great if you listen to anything other than rap, but a 15 will def get loud and be clean if you build everything right.

jbl gto 14001d amp is 1500rms@2ohm and like 400bux, theres def better deals, but i like it

what kind of car is it going in? thers no point in us telling you to run 2 12's if you have a 200sx

  9. avalon ftw....the older ones are some of the most comfortable cars ive ever been in, i dont mind 6-12 hour trips in mine at all, really smooth ride and aslong as you dont play mario andretti you get 20ish mpg, which isnt bad

i think i'm up to like 2k in maintenance in repairs over a year and a half, never a problem to work on it. I broke the front cv's in the snow doing donuts and then hitting dry pavement....that was an 800 dollar mistake. most recently i needed new brakes and abs sensor, another 500ish ftl

maybe take a look at an older infinity Q or I series, the Q's are some baller ass comfy cars

  10. save up to do everything and do alot of research in the meantime, by EVERYTHING i mean

0guage, terminals, rings, amps, subs, wood, nails, glue, tools, batteries, alternator, etc

honestly, by the time you have the cash saved up to buy everything in on shot, you should know enough about what youre buying to make an informed decision

and if youre trying to go that route, plan around a 5 grand budget, at a bare minimum

and also realize that if you do the install wrong, you will most likely blow your subs, amps, or destroy your car

  11. after the amp its ac, higher voltage current. 12g is waaaaay more than enough for that amp (the box says 1200rms@4ohm and 1500rms@2ohm), 12g speaker wire is fine for the speaker connection, but because of the 160amp draw that it has, youre going to need 0g run to the back, and then a distro block/stepdown/extra batt to step down to 4g for the terminals

and honestly, a btl is only the way to go if you have the cubic footage and amperage it needs, if you cant put up the power and space, going a step down is almost always louder and cleaner.
