  1. lvl 6s are great musical subs and perform great in bandpasses, i know this for a fact , might want to add some bracing in side that box now what are you planning on power, do not put that sub in 4.5 cubes it will tear itself apart

Odd, i was told no BP for l6's.. lol...

I've sat inside a DC truck with 2 18" Lvl 6 in a 6th order bandpass... talk about nasty lows

It's also on Steve meades youtube channel

  2. Lvl 6's, are well,.. their own beast. They dont play nice with box making programs, and the like.

IMHO they are not designed for any type of musical design. To me a BURP only type.

Also, i wouldnt put a Lv6 in a BP anyway. No way.

    Shoot for a flat wall.

Or dump them for some xls or level 5's

    Just me.......

I've heard 4 15" lvl 6 walled off in a blazer and they sounded GREAT on music... loud as shit but still smooth

    cool

How the subs sound is completely install dependent. The cheapest chinese subwoofer in the right enclosure could be considered "musical"

just saying... but to each their own

  4. There's only a dozen or so people complaining from what I see. Conisdering over a million consoles went out today thsts not that bad. Put in close to 12-14 hours on my PS4 and also put in a TB hard drive. I haven't had a problem and love it.

What brand/model hard drive did you manage to fit inside the case?

    i'm thinkin about upgrading mine

  5. You should get it under the back seat if not even behind it,

Do you have the amp already? if not idd recomend a bit more power if you can closer to 600-800 rms

I take it you have the dual 2ohm

    And meserments?

    You have any

This guy knows a thing or two about designing enclosures. you can't go wrong with his recommendations!

    Good luck

  6. I am all ready to get tuning my system but then hit a issue my Deck does not have a cd player for the tones. I tried to copy to usb stick and a sd card but no luck. Can anyone help with this?

what do you mean you couldn't copy to a flash drive?

Use itunes or another program of your choice to rip the tracks to your hard drive (IN LOSSLESS AUDIO FORMAT) and then place on the flash drive.

  7. There is another thread about this but no answers since november.

Can we get some help with this. A tutorial maybe?

Referring to stock head units/mids and highs... aftermarket subwoofer and amplifier.

    - What order should things be tested.

    - How do we disconnect stock speakers to protect them from blowing if the LOC is tapped into them?

I have several friends who are on a budget and want to dd-1 their system not sure how to go about this.

  8. UPDATE:

Headunit Doesn't Clip (max volume 35/35)

When setting subwoofer amplifier. I get distortion at 35/35 with gains on the line driver ALL THE WAY DOWN and amplifier ALL THE WAY DOWN

What do I do... just leave the gains off?

The cda 9887 should have 4volt pre outs.

There is no need for a line driver at all, even if your headunit had 2volt preouts.

Simply right now the line driver is causing more harm than needed.

Two ways to fix this would be:

1: ditch the line driver that is not needed.

2: turn your headunit volume down to a level that does not cause distortion on the amp due to the line driver.

Your problem just proves linedrivers are not needed ever (unless you have a setup and your running like 6+amps from 1 set of preouts).

I'm pulling the line driver out now to see how that goes. thanks for the input
