A 4 ohm speaker will typically read 3.2 ohms if you measure it with a DMM after subtracting residual resistance...
well i didnt know that. learned something new. But the has it wired wierd not in par. He has two subs each in sep boxes and has the wires coming from the subs join toether outside the box before you hookes them to the amp so he only has one wire to the amp...and he bridges that wire...so what ohm would that be?

i talked to him today and he said that he has been talking to kenwood themselves so he knows they know what they are talking about and that they have never hurd of an amp overheating...so he can just run it all he wants and it wont overhead bc it had a fan in the amp....and if it did overheat then they will refund him...well i told him thats a bunch of bull bc they wond refund u under consumer abuse which is what he is doing...i know he hasnt talked to them, he just lieing

I have a friend that im trying to help out bf he burns up all of his speaker and amp. The problem is that he has kenwood subs : 4ohm svc at 400RMS a sub. The amp is a kenwood 2-Channel Class AB Car Amplifier
RMS Power Rating:
4 ohms: 170 watts x 2 chan.
2 ohms: 250 watts x 2 chan.
Bridged, 4 ohms: 500 watts x 1 chan
he said that he has the subs at a 3.2ohm load and the amp at a 4ohm load. The amp keeps overheating and shutting off while being bridged at the same time. I cant talk any since into him bc he just wont listen. He also thinks that his amp is a mono amp and that his subs are 1000RMS a sub. Ive tryed talking to him but i figure if you guys wrote enough about this topic he might understand what the crap is going on bf u burns everything up like a dumb ass.... I shouldnt even wast my time typing this but what yall say im just gone print it out and give it to him and call it at day....

Fi Q for your truck mike
FiQ 12?
-
the q12 would be better sounding all around imo in this application.
correct box and power >small box
what will i need to try and get the box to in cuft to make the 15'' worth a shot???
-
what does that have to do with stock electrical???
they will both do 1k rms at 1ohm so it doesn't matter!!! same electrical strain
-Drew
yeah your right on that
-
i would say use the SSD since you have stock ele...........
i would think the SSD 15'' would be louder to me...2.5 is a lil small for the sub but should the extra cone area make up for that or would it just not perform good in 2.5cuft

i had a feed on here about running two amps to a FiBTL12'' sub and after talking about it i thought i would be best for me to wait until i had more knowledge with wiring techs.... so i am wanting to get a quick opinion bf i ordor one of these Fi subs tonight....should i go with a FiQ12'' or a FiSSD15'' .... i would like to know which would be louder under these specs (I want bass)
2.5cuft ported to 32hz
run at 1ohm with 1000RMS to the sub
in a single cab truck
stock electrical

after reading this feed i checked out these subs which i have never hurd of and the HDC312 at only$229 looks like a great sub..im thinking about getting the AQ 12'' and the FiBL12'' and see how they compare
