  1. Yep double checked the remote wire, the RCA cables could be the problem because I wasn't sure which set on the amp to hook them to, ha I told you I was a noob

hahaha naw bro...everybody makes mistakes..its ku thoug..so were the RCA's your problem?

  2. no the power light would turn on without the remote wire.... b/c if you turn you head unit off and then look back at your amp it will be off so double check your remote

i might be wrong but in my case 1 time i did that..i wired everything except for the remote and the amp wouldnt turn on or the light..until i wired the remote to the amp..the amp finally turned on...maybe the RCA's aint connected..did you double check??..

  4. Your cool man. Its alright you don't need to buy anything new.

You just need to learn and understand how to setup your stuff.

Sometimes its not easy when your not used to it. Alright

If you were around me I would show you how its done but I'm not and it can be hard to explain with all the different products on the market.

Go back and read what I said in the firs post on your thread and you will be alright.

You don't need to change your equipment.

    o aight...tanx bro... :D

  5. Yup and make sure you use a bunch of amps. No gain matching required if they are turned all the way up.

    Don't sweat it.

Easy way to do it without tools is to turn the gain about half and then turn your deck up till it distorts, then back it down a click or two. Then turn the amp up and listen for it to either distort or get to a point where it isn't getting any louder. The right way is to use an o-scope or a DMM

All decks will have a point where it will distort as it gets louder, My deck is 26 out of 36. If ya gonna run it hard, you have to keep it under the cut off point.

    o..o aight..i feel u..ima try doin that 2morow... :yahoo:

  6. Oh I dig, I know that it will take you more then a pair of by-9's and a 400w amp to have super clean, loud mids and highs. I push 2 4ch amps to my hand picked 3way setup. I'm pretty sure Steve runs a few amps to his front stage as well. And it's not only how much power to feed the front stage, at also matters on the quality of amp pushing them.

Just cause the deck goes to 36, doesn't mean it will still put out a clean signal at 36.

Same goes for amps, gains are not volume controls. turning it all the way up doesn't get you louder, or a clean signal.

Even if you had the amps matching the deck, all that will be thrown out the window as soon as you are short on your power supply side.

We can take it a step further and look at the speaker wires from the amp to speakers..... too small, lousy sound.

so i have to check the gain in my amp and regulated?...or get a better amp?..but hey bro i didnt know that...my fault..now that you told me ima have that in mine every time i have a distorted system..much respect on what you told me.. :clapping: ..even thoug u made me sound dum...hahahaha...

  7. Very much understood!! I wasn't happy with 500 watts and one 12. Had to upgrade to 2000 watts and 2 15's, and a ho alt, 0 gauge cable, 2nd battery, LOL!!! Now, if he set up the gains wrong, could that be causing distortion before reaching the full potential of the amps? Or am I misunderstood, cause I don't want to point anyone down the wrong road.

same with me bro..my 1st system was 600 watts and 1 "12" and i installed it myself...and i didnt have no distortion at all..but since i removed all that and went for an upgrade with a 2000 watt amp for my subs 3 "12's".and 600 watt for my mids and highs..and let best buy installed dem 4 me...i been having that problem...

  8. you said your using a sony deck....and sorry but sony dosnt have to much to go on in the car audio field, try a knew, nice deck...like alpine, pioneer, kenwood, something with nice pre out voltage

thats what i heard..sony doesnt have very good sound quality..but idk..i aint no expert..but thats what i heard...maybe ill try using a new head unit..

  9. 4000 watts will actually rape your lights lol.

You need to do some serious electrical work before you go installing everything. I learned the hard way on my first install. Dropped the volts down WAY too low and caused clipping. The voltage dropped to around 10.8 by accident. The clipping will heat up the internals of your subwoofer and eventually blow it/them.

Dont half ass the electrical. You will probably want to put around 1000$ into just the electrical of your car with an alternator, batteries, cable, terminals, etc.

tanx for da advice bro...kuld 1 hifonics 2000 watt amp handle two lvl 4 dc subs?....i wuz thinkin on having (2) lvl 4 subs wit (2) 2000 watt amps but if im gona need to upgrade my electrical den im jst gonna start jst wit (1) 2000 watt amp for now..and (1) lvl 4 sub....

  10. I'm not familiar with the amps so I'm not sure what size power wire they take but I would run a 0 gauge off the batt into a distribution block and then run power wires to the amps for starters. What kind of stock batt do you have? Probably not tho. Also upgrade your big three.

....i got a optima battery yellow top right now....so 4,000 watts aint gonna dim my lights??...how u upgrade ur BIG 3 bro??....
