  1. Ok so just to keep it simple im very unhappy with xs power... I ordered a 250 amp alt and was told i would have it a week from ordering day.. I didnt receive the alt till over a week past the time i was supposed to. Apon receiving it it had a funny noise, and was told it was ok... I installed it and couldnt find a belt.. Mind you xs said stock belt in which it wasnt... The belt was 2 sizes up from stock.. When i put it in it would not charge above 13.x volts with everything off just the car running, and my battery light stayed on... I was told i could send it back, so i did.. They didnt get it till 4 days after Bales had signed for it... Then i was told the alt worked fine, that i should down grade... WTF i want a working 250 amp alt.. They swore it was a lose belt .. The belt was sooo tight it was about to snap.. But they still claim its all the belt.. When i took the alt of it had black soot on it and they swear its belt rubber... I was just offered a refund in every PM with Nathan as he didnt give a fuck to help me... Then when i did get my money refunded i got charged 20 dollars thru paypal.. Why they couldnt just refund it who knows... So now i have no alt, a belt thats no good that cost 25 bucks, plus the ppl i paid for help and now the paypal bs.. Xs has cost me about 150 dollars and i received nothing but stress.. I will never deal with them again.. .

Be glad your not in my spot. Believe me when I say that.

And for it not working I guess the courier must have dropped it. (Detect the sarcasm)

  2. my old mechman did the same thing.. then one day it stopped charging completely turned out the voltgage regulator melted and some parts inside burned out.. they told me it was due to setting the external regular higher than what they come set to(14.6)

whats the use of an external regulator if u cant set it higher i had it set at (15.2) but in the end they gave me a full refund :drinks:

My alt from day one has never gone above 14.1v.

It was meant to be adjustable, it turned out it wasn't. Then got told the VCM will be out soon, still not out. Now alt does this.

It was meant to charge at 14.9 but never did I once see anything close to that even on cold days.

Im in the UK so its a PITA for me, but the UK distro is doing all he can to help me :).

  3. The alt im running cuts out on me intermittently.

Will be fine one second then with no load (audio) it cuts out and im running on pure battery power.

Does it with no warning and goes straight from 14v+ to 12.7v.

Stays out for random amounts of time, the longest being 20 mins.

So far I have been told its due to belt slip.

I am running a 6 toothed belt and when playing hard with 10kw when the alt decides to work, my voltage doesnt drop below 13.3-4v. That leaves me to suspect it isn't belt slip.

Today I turned the car on and alt isnt out putting any voltage. Checked all wires, jiggled a few - still nothing. 30 mins of driving later - still nothing.

    Opinions ?

(Note: I haven't named the manufacturers as this is a ongoing situation, I dont see the need to bad mouth someone for no reason hence the anonimity)

  4. My apologies for the mix up on your order. When the dealer and I were discussing your order we were also considering setting it up to be used with the new VCM module. (below) When we determined the VCM was not available for it yet, I assumed it was understood it couldnt be adjusted without it. It was my mistake for making that assumption. I've already requested an update on the VCM for this model, and if something cant be supplied soon, you are more than welcome to return the alt for a full refund.

    Hi Scottie

Well its cost me $100+ to get the thing fitted and if I were to take it off I would be alt-less as my old HO has been sold and my standard one has also been sold.

Guess I have no option but to wait for the VCM.

  5. Also got this email from the Xspower distro who was told this:

I am sure he is overlooking it… please see page 11 showing the rear of the alternator. The red thing is the internal adjustable regulator, and the round hole on the top side is the potentiometer. It is a plastic pot, so make sure he is gentle when adjusting or he could strip it out.

Looking at the catalogue that alt has a clearly visible screw on it. Mine clearly does not.
