  1. i would fire up because its a fg bottom, ports to the pass side

subs on the drvr side, 2-4" vent to the pass side.

    2.3 before

    2-4" vents tuned to 39hz

man i wish i had the extra $ to have you build it, but you recomended breaden some im sure he knows how to build a box. probably call him next week.

  2. as far as building a box, go see braeden at freeland kustoms

he is also a dd dealer.

i charge 650 for that box.

    yes it slams

    What would i do"?

    either 1 lv4 10 ported or 2 dd 1508's

dd's want 800 to the pair

would you build it with the subs facing down and the port openings toward the front of the truck?

Wow small world, I just talked to brayden about some us amps he had for sale, his shop is about 20 minutes from me. Ok well thanks I will give him a call.

  4. i can get 2.6cuft under that seat.

    actually doing 1 today.

build the perimeter, set it in the truck, make the carpet inside the box, cut the carpet out.

foil the floor, set the box back in and fiberglass the bottom.

    do it all the time.

2 dd 8's will work fine.

    Ray,

If you already have the dimensions for my application, what would you charge to build me a box?

Also do you think the 2 dd1508 would be my best bet as far as straight bass ( hitting the hardest) maybe you could give me some suggestions. If the dd's would slam, what power would be sufficient for them.

  5. sounds like you could maybe squeeze 2 in. the DD page recommends between 1.5 and 2.25 for 2 8's after port and sub displacement, and the recommended port for the 1.5 cube box is about .3 cu ft, which brings you to 1.8 before subs. those 1508s are just under .05 each, so the total box volume comes to 1.9 cubes. which is pretty close to your estimate, but you would really need to go out and measure it and crunch the exact numbers to see if it will fit

im going to have to shim my seat up! i really want to fit two in there. every box that is premade for my truck is a downfire box, if i built it the subs should be firing towards the front seats yes? same with the ports?

  6. I have a 08" 2500 hd, been waiting and waiting to start my stereo, i have been comtemplating on doing a prebuilt subthump box or building my own.

    (link to the box) http://www.subthump.com/cxb07.htm

i was thinking getting the dual 10" downfire box, which has .59 in each chamber, with a mounting depth of 5.75"s. it holds two 10's or 2 8"L7 (squares im assuming)

i was looking around at subs, how do you think 4 8's would sound compared to the choices above? i have heard 4 8's that actually sounded great. im just confused. im not too concerned with sq.

    suggestions?

    thanks in advance.

  7. powered speakers are gonna have an XLR input and probably a balanced 1/4" input. so you'll have to turn an RCA from the preouts on the receiver into 1/4" or XLR.

easiest way would be from RCA to 1/4", easy to do/make/find.

edit: also mackie has some decent powered speakers for real decent money, i think they come in 12's maybe 15's, i used some for a PA rig one time in a small venue (just 2 of them) and they villed the room really well.

the powered speakers seem cool, quite expensive though. also the runs from the speakers would be quite LONG! in a 6k sq ft building. i imagine the xlr cable is not cheap.

i was thinking more the traditional home theater speaker with a sub, a high and a tweet, with just a simple speaker wire +/-

they dont have to be high end names either

  8. What would suit you would be powered speakers. Easy to lift plastic bins that can be placed in position, a signal lead and a power lead run to them and that is all. If you can afford them, my first reccommendation are the RCF TT22A's. They are tough on the wallet, so if that is a concern, try the RCF 300A or the JBL EON or the TAPCO T-15A. The TT22A will be the absolute best performing powered loudspeaker for you, however the latter three will perform quite well in this situation.

    Cheers,

    Mick

So just say i bought 4 powered loud speakers. what would run back to the receiver? or how do they work...

  9. Ok so i have a large commercial building that i keep all my offroad racing team/toys at... its a 6000 sq ft building, thats basically a huge square. i have a little lounge area that i was going to put some couches/tv/dvd player ect. we also like to rock out while were working on the cars.

i have a decent denon recieiver AVR-686 that i have and was going to use, i want to know what a good speaker choice would be. basically i was going to put a speaker in each corner of the building. being that it has concrete walls at the ceiling is about 18' tall i figured it could get real loud real easy/cheap.

any suggestions on some speakers that would fit my needs???

    thanks!!

    AG

  10. What do you classify as speed metal? When I hear "speed" metal I think about the old stuff....like from the 80's. Megadeth, Sepultura, Overkill, Slayer etc..... and of course Anthrax! (Got my username from Caught In A Mosh)

Bands I'm really into these days are like Threat Signal, Chiamara, Lamb Of God, Diecast, DevilDriver, Fear Factory...and always PANTERA!

    dragonforce?

  11. Stereo Integrity Mags or even th BM's.

the .87 is per side. this is a box by caraudio factory. im wondering if i just built one, if i could get more space. or do a single 10" like you guys said.

a guy i on another forum is running the same box with image dynamics IDQ 12v2-d4s. and a hifonics brutus 1206d monoblock, he said it sounds awesome..

  12. Steve,

Im kind of lost on this build, ive always has suv's and tons of room to play with. on my new truck i dont have much room to work with. I was hoping to get some advice.

    2008 silverado 2500hd Crew cab

Option 1 would be 2 10's. ( box from caraudiofactory.com) which would all for 8"s of mounting depth and .86CF per side.

Option 2 they make a box for 2 12's as well same mounting depth and air space.

I have heard from people on other forums, that these are decent made boxes, and there systems turned out great.

I really dont have a buget set for amps and subs. Can you reccomend any subs that may fit my needs?

I was thinking about running FI audio subs with a cadence amp, possibly running PG psd 6 1/2s off a audison lrx 300.4 i have. or possibly buying some focals or rainbow components.

Im assuming for harder hitting bass obviously the two 12's would be my best bet. but im up for suggestions!

    thanks in advance!
