  1. That's not just THE Rex.....That's Anna's Rex......Big difference. Just be glad she didn't catch you slippin.... lol

    :D

Looks like you had a good time. Good ol Krusty knows how to dress up the hog, so to speak.....meaning, he will stop whatever the hell he is doing to bullshit and show you around and answer any questions you have about his products. I :good:: him for this very reason.

Hahaha... very true, when I walked into the shop area I said, "Oh, your wife's World Championship car, right?" He even showed me the interior and the enclosures she used :good:

  2. Just got back from our trip to Oakland. We took a drive up to Reno and was able to swing by the DC Audio headquarters. A big mahalo to Rusty for sticking around "after hours" to give us a quick tour and just talk story. I wish I took more pics, but I didn't want to seem intrusive or invasive.

  3. Yeah, no dealers in Hawaii right now. I've brought in a couple of subs ordered directly from Rusty to Oahu(I believe he's also sent out a couple to the outer islands as well). Shipping does add a decent amount to costs. Currently I think there are only two guys on Oahu right now running DC Audio, a LV4 18"(ext. cab F150) and a LV4 12" w/ LV5 coils(trunk Civic or was it an Accord).

  4. On Febuary 22 we had our first SPL Competition of the year on the island of Oahu. The comp also featured our version of Bass Race which allowed windows down and/or doors open, a redlight subtracted 0.3db from your final score, and only your final score needed to be within your class limitation(you were allowed to "breakout" during your run as long as your final score wasn't a "breakout"). For SPL, vehicles are classified by general cone area only, sensor on the passenger windshield, car on, sealed. SPL competitions have only recently begun to make a comeback here, and on Oahu, this was only our third one to utilize the Term-Lab.

    SPL Classes

    Class A- one 10" or two 8"

Class B- one 12" or two 10" or three 8"

Class C- one 18" or one 15" or two 12" or three 10" or five 8"

Class D- two 15" or three 12" or four 10" or seven 8"

    Class E- unlimited

    Bass Race Classes

    120.0-129.9db

    130.0-139.9db

    140.0-149.9db

Enough with the background info. Anyway, I have owned four DC Audio subs, a LV4 18" D2 which I sold, a LV4 15" D2 which I still have, and two LV4 12" D1 with LV5 coils(sold one, kept one). So, my cousin wanted to take a crack at competing(never did prior to this), so I decided to set him up with my LV4 12". I threw together a 2ft^3 box(double baffel) with an external 6" aero tuned ~48hz. His truck is a 2000 Chevy Blazer 2dr, stock alt, two Optima Yellow Tops(one underhood, one in back), and 2ga wiring. He normally runs a DD M2 amp, but he borrowed his brother's DD M3 for the comp. He was able to do a 147.7db @ 51hz on his first run setting a new Class B record(previous was 146.6db) backing it up with a 147.6db on his second run. To top it off, he finished 2nd in the 130.0-139.9db Bass Race class(he also might have been the only one to run "sealed up" all day). Bass Race runs were done individually(not head to head) and non-elimination. We did two rounds and your highest score was kept. My cousin did a 138.9db on his first run, but the first round was kind of thrown out since the timer was off on the laptop. We got it squared away after the first round, and he was able to come back with a 139.9 run in the second round placing him in a three way tie. Originally the organizers were gonna do "crowd choice" in the event of a tie, but decided to do a sudden death run off instead(chosen by the competitors). So in the first sudden death round, my cousin and another guy was able to repeat 139.9 runs, but the third guy couldn't and was eliminated. In what turned out to be the final round, the other guy did a 139.8 leaving the door open for my cousin. In his final run, my cousin ended up breaking out, handing the win over to the other guy. Even though he didn't win, I was really proud of him. He finished 2nd in Bass Race 130.0-139.9db and finished 1st in SPL Class B setting a new record along the way. Not bad for a rookie with a setup we threw together last minute, even swapping out amps the day before. Big props to Rusty and DC Audio for the awesome products!
