Well this is how its gunna be...
Before I start. Would it be better to get 1 say 250-300 amp alt, or 2 200 amp alts? I may be able to weld up a bracket to fit my Blazers 4.3 V6.. so I can run 2 alternators.
I'm going to run 1 Audiopipe AP3000.1D. 3000 watts @ 2 ohms powering my pair of Mach 5 Audio SPL-12s.
I've got 50ft of 1 gauge welding lead. This is what I'm going to use for my power wire. It should be big enough?
I will be doing the Big 3...
So, the 1 gauge will be running from the front battery (which is stock for now, is this fine?) to the rear bank of batteries.
The rear batteries are undecided. 55ah Blue Tops run about $250 each, I can get Deka 9A34s for $168+s/h from the closest East Penn thing.
I will probably be running two rear batteries.
I can get 250a fuses and a fuse block locally.. I think.
How often should I fuse?
My batteries will be right in front of my amp, or really close. So the runs will be short. I will probably do buss bars.
I think the AP3000.1D has two imputs?
This is my first 'large scale' setup. My old setup, and the other few I've isntalled, had amp install kits.
Also what gauge wire should I run from the amp to my subs? I heard 12 gauge is fine, but I'd like overkill.

You got a pretty decent looking first gen S10. Should do a 350 swap so you can run a bunch of alternators with ease.. haha.
Looks pretty good though. I almost did a blowthrough with my Sonoma.
I'll be watching this.

Second Skin dimpl-kool, dimplakool...lol.
-
Try a forklift place and if that fails, marine. They all do fuses around 300A.
Ok, we have a Cat Lift Truck dealer here, and my dad's buddys with the service guy so I'll see what I can find.
-
I would need a sealed battery would I not? If it's being mounted in the passenger compartment?
-
Let me know if you can find a fuse for that wire because i will never run stereo without a fuse.
I should be able to. I'll check with some of the aircraft industry suppliers at work and see what I can come up with.
-
what are you doing for subs?
and areo ports cut down on box volume alot
Those.
Mach 5 SPL12s, they need 3cuft per sub.
-
Side mirrors with rounded glass in corner
These?
-
I would wall it and get a rear view camara with the LCD mirror. Solves your problem about not being able to see the rear.
What about shoulder checkin?
-
smaller the box add more power
I'm trying to figure out a box now.. lol. But I'm too tired to play with box designs right now.
-
Heres some pics of what I got to work with..
Seats up/down. I looked and it appears the seats come out pretty easy.
-
With my Liberty, I get the feeling its going to be cramped in the back. I'm looking at picking up a Audiopipe AP3000.1D amp, and there not very small. Plus I'm sure I'll need a couple batteries, and the box is going to take up probably all my rear cargo space.
What do you guys do when your cramped for space??
I'm sorta wondering if there'd be more space if I walled it? Then I loose my rearward visibility, and my rear seats. I guess I could take out the back seats and do a box under the window line, would give me my visibility..
Can never get ahead lol, pretty much the same issues as my truck, just I don't have to cut the jeep up.

Its probably better for me to pay the $135 for the welding cable here, the website is $112, and I'm not sure how the shipping works out, and its in USD, so it'll probably be cheaper for me to buy the roll here.
Edit: Im not sure how much I'll need. I'm sure I'll need a larger alt, and some batteries, just not sure where to put the amp, batteries and box.. cargo area isn't that big. And I'd like to send 1500 to each of my subs.

On this website it is $1.77/ft for 50 ft. of black 2/0 which comes out to less than 100 bucks. Cheapest I've ever seen it . I got this saved in my bookmarks for when I do my blowthrough in the future.
What website?
-
i payed around 112$ for the 50ft of black welding cable i use in my accord and it did two runs front to rear i should have the red some time this week for the next two runs the stuff i got is real flexible
This is in Canadian funds too..
-
I think I'm going to go with 2/0 in my Jeep when I go to install the stereo.
I looked in a catalogue at work today and they have...
Welding Cable, 2/0, 50ft, $135.18
Battery Cable, 2/0, 50ft, $183.80
How much do you guys usually pay? This is for a 50' spool. I think 50ft would be enough??

dunno if its the same for your vehicle, but in my 09 jetta on a cold start it idles high @ 2kpms for about 15 secs, which just means that the secondary exhaust fan is coming on to mix the excess fuel fumes, it's suppose to cool the catalitic, so it has a longer life.
I know with my dads 04.5 Chevy Silverado with the Duramax diesel, you can set it to 'elevated idle' and it'll rev to about that after it sits idling for about 10s or so.
But for cars with out that option, its easiest to use the cable..

sounds like the exact same thing I have in above video.. but you can also turn them for more accurate change in rpm.
There very similar, We have ones like yours on GPUs for planes.
Both will work.
-
They have this done on certain vehicles with power take offs and such that need the engine to be at a higher RPM.
I'll look around, I'll see what I can find myself. I've noticed it on some vehicles at work and thought of putting it on my truck or jeep, so you dont have to hold your foot down.
The ones I see, you push a button in the middle and pull out on them.

i was once told that the vents are for a pressure release. so when you close your door, it closes easily and releases the pressure out the back.
truf.
-
Would you like me to PM Ricky the link to this thread on S10f?
-
Shit, I'm going to have to invest in some sound deadening. What engine is in yours?
I have a 94, is yours bagged? I see the switchbox..
I really wish I had an ext cab.

I'm looking at the S10 forum right now. What do you mean get the body straight? Fender and window are fixed already. I'm working on getting the front end fixed and a getting a hood.
I know, it just sorta looks like theres some damage to the rear of the bed. May be my eyes, I have no glasses on right now.
Good luck with it though. I have a 94 Sonoma.

Kimo - Where did you get your wires from? Any online store?? I like how they look.
When I bought the truck the guy told me it already had a drop on it. Like I said I'm clueless about dropping so IDK. lol
heres a few pics of it. Primer gray lol I changed the damaged fender out and in the process of re-assembling the front end. Has a walk-through or whatever its called on it. Sealed with an accordian gasket i think?? lol
I'm a noob at lowering. lol
Oh, he included c-notch 'things' with it. i just have no clue where they go.
Do yourself a favour and look at that link I posted or sign up on some S-truck based forum, and do a bit of reading, you'll learn alot.
Get that body straight.
Help me out with my electrical..

Its #1 Welding cable lead.
A 25ft run will support 300a, accordign to the the chart.
The closest East-Penn place (makers of Deka) said group 34s are as big as he can get.
The local audio shop carries Kinetik. The HC1800 is around $500. The HC3800 is $980.
Edit: two places here say they usually run 12 gauge to the subs. But I'm going to run big as possible.
