  1. Whats involved with build a woofer from the ground up? I've always wanted to try to make a sub. I've watched the discovery channel thing, I must admit its pretty neat and there not as complex as I thought. Now I obliviously won't jump right in and do this right away, just wondering cause its interesting me..

Mach 5 Audio sells baskets, so I'd probably get baskets from him.

Has there ever been a 1 ohm SVC sub?

I know you have to shim your voice coil gaps.

And if you use a recone, you have to attach the spider (not sure about this) and attach the surround to the basket. Also you'd have to solder the tinsel leads?

I love to do things like this, to me this is how I'd learn.. only thing is IDK what I'd do with the sub when I get it done.. haha

  2. What info can you guys give on this amp? Is it worth the money? What will it do @ 1ohm on 12V? what about 14V?

    Is it under/over rated?

Kiiiinda thinking of buying two to power my subs... Mach 5 SPL-12s...

  3. and its a chevy/gmc? ahh shit man that engine is just broken in rofl. a 6.2 with 34mpg damn, that is good rofl. my cavy gets like 34 and its slow as hell lol. u just have to take into consideration what u will have to do to prepair ur truck for that.

I will need to get v8 conversion engine mounts, run airbags up front most likely, might have to beef up the frame, cowl hood, trans swap, gauge cluster swap, rear end swap, wire the diesel, fuel return line... thats all off the top of my head.

  4. front first or back first? i am on a budget for now lol i do want to bad the whole thing but work is slow and not making as much money as befor

I called SD and he told me to bag the front first then the rear when I can afford it. He told me to use air shocks out back. He did this for almost a year in 97 or 99 when he did his first dime.

I'm planning to do the same. Will bags support a heavier engine?

  5. mines got the old 2.2 that all the ecotec guys rag on

Ours did too. We sold it. Never had any problems with the OHV... cooling fan went out and it never even overheated.. but we had to replace the fan as it would not have a/c at idle..

Fuel filter got plugged up on it and it would lean out and shut down. Simple fix. new fuel filter.

We never ever had a problem with our Sunfire... other than the above. Was a real rock solid car..

As it seems though OP, you have a shitty maintance schedule when you haven't changed the oil on your honda in 5 years...
