  1. you would have to be between 5'-5'5'' to fit and be able to drive that truck , im 6' 1'' , and i barely fit with the seat ALL the way back and nothing behind the seat . i couldn't even imagine having the seat up 8'' , i would be hugging the wheel .........................

I'm the same height as you.

this will fit behind the seats, theres about 8" behind the seats.

  2. Lol.. well.. I miiight consider selling my two bnib Mach 5 SPL-12s. At the time I bought them, I was either going to do an enclosure like this

    331505_42_full.jpg

    or a blow through.

However is it worth it to do a blowthrough for just two 12s? Although, My cousin had a full size GMC Sierra with a blowthrough for 1 10" Kappa.

So heres my "backup" plan, in case I don't do the 12s/blowthrough route.

    D:8in

    3/4 mdf

    Diamond Audio D1 12 (x6)

~6.98 cu.ft , leaves about 1.16 cubes per sub... Diamond Audio reccomends 1.2 per sub.

    Diamond Audio D1

This is meant to go behind the seats in my regular cab Sonoma, and will come up past the window line a few inches.

What you guys think? This route will be cheaper than the SPL-12s... if I could only find some batteries...

  3. I've seen this thing on ampguts, but can't find it on there website, however they have a VRA4000D, so is the VR4000D like a older model? I'm thinking about buying one and its not overly far from me.

    "Class "D" subwoofer amplifier

    1 x 2000W @ 4 ohms (12.5V)

    1 x 4000W @ 2 ohms (12.5V)"

Should be enough jooz for my 2 Mach 5 SPL-12s? Do they do rated.

  4. haha... "SUED"

    jk

leave company names and logos out, keep blank, or your own logo

I was looking at the website, I seen the 8" frames, I may be interested in picking some up

LOL I dobut Mark would sue me.

What would the adapters be made out of? anything at all really? I might make some out of aluminum or steel plate..

I think were getting this figured out... hmm... if you only had AIM workin.

  5. hmm... let me see if I have that frame still

    its a TC sounds frame

I painted it half purple last I remember... lol... testing house paint in my spray gun, needed something to test on

I cant find that TC frame right now, I know I have it tho

But what you CAN do and get away with, with no issues, is what I did

I built that sub 2 years before pioneer came up using a second cone as a spider

but they inverted it, used it differently, so I dont think any patents would be broken there

hmm.. you still work at the same job?

this is intriguing me more and moar.. its like being hypnotized, getting drawn in further and further..

I have a 'name' for the sub if I/we make it... if we use mostly mach 5 parts we could call it the super mach.

  6. check this sub out-

3" long winding width, 3" coil, with a long former, SPIDER-LESS design. Only a 10" cone with a high excursion surround, and a 12" high excursion cone/surround- This thing peaked at about 4" of xmax at like 20 hz

It was very high Q with a Fs of 19 or 20 hz- in other words it played best from about 30-10hz... lol

ALOT of weight being flung around with very soft suspension

It was awesome, until management decided to have our home re-roofed, and a bunch of nails, and debris got sucked in to the voice coil gap- I didnt notice til like 4 months later when I went to throw it in a car, and play some music, hella scratcy and cone was getting stuck

    :cray: :cray: :cray: :cray: :cray:

    Image052.jpg

    AWWWWWWWwwwww.

    Can you rebuilt it?

    YGPM btw

  7. I know a great voice coil company I can contact

but again, about $100-150 set up fee, then the cost of the coil

Unless, like what I have done before, use a standard height coil that will just catch a glue bead with the spider landing, and use a round piece of 1/4" MDF/hardboard, cut it to about the size of the VC ID, epoxy it in place, and use a hollow alum rod to go to the top cone, with another MDF ring epoxied to that

    Straight frankenstien sub there

yeah could do something like that.

Would it last though? I guess if you glue it up right it shouldn't budge.

I was thinking you could glue in another piece of whatever there made of and make a joint.

  8. got a link to those man??

    the baskets

    And hells no, no PVC

    just alum former

PVC would be over weighting the moving mass to where the glue beads would be ripping apart

    http://www.mach5audio.com/zen/index.php?ma...ex&cPath=70

would you be able to make a voice coil..? you got some parts... Just the motor ... IDK. too bad I cant get a SPL-12 motor.. shit would be a beast of a sub, 3 baskets and a triple stack magnet... lol.

  9. ~

I'm not looking to 100% replicate the LVS. just like the fact that there were multiple baskets. Its like the square woofer thing, I've seen alot of companies with square subs, which i thought was kickers design, but now mtx and credence and stuff have square subs.

I could use mach 5's baskets though, right?

a 10,12,and 18 basket is around 60 bux. not bad.

Just for the former/voice coil. I thought I read that the LVS's was extended with PVC?

  10. LVS 18 is 10" spider frame, 12" spider frame, and 18" spider frame with a 10" aluminum adapter plate, and a 12" adapter plate, and a 4" hole in the middle of each plate

The biggest issue is the extremely long former that weighs a ton in the speaker world probably about triple the weight of a standard coil, the former was mil 8 I believe, very thick and rigid

But you can do something like that anyways, its a Memphis design, and is patented

There is 2 other companies that use that same design, but I cant tell you, or Id have to kill you

Hmm. But this would be a custom built woofer..

I know if you take a fiero and put a ferrari kit on it, both are patented, what says you cannot do that? its not like I'm marketing it.

  11. The whole idea of the LVS was-

    1) Flash- eye catching

    2) Prove that spaced apart spiders in a configuration like that will never rub, and keep the voice coil aligned perfectly possible

    3) more moving mass weight for better low end reproduction

great transient response I believe was a part of that concept to

so it had spiders in each basket, and what was there a plate that bolts ontop the basket with a hole in the middle, so the vc can go through..?

    HMMMmmm.

    Imagine inverting it.

You said you had all those parts... did you read the above

  12. lol... LVS, Iam toooo familiar with those on a first hand basis

from the LVS 12" to the Tripler 18

    fun fun fun

Yeah I'd like to do a triple basket 18..

IDK what I'd use it for... I'd just like to make somthing like that. I'd have to get a t/s parameter thing... (woofer tester you get from parts express)

Foreverbumpin, idk if I'd be able to tell you what I'd want and you assemble so much of the soft parts and stuff, and I buy it off you. kinda like a custom recone....

The LVS triple basket, is it two 12" baskets and a 18"?

  13. What speaker "Engineering" is, is this.....

Build a speaker that you think will work cool, test it on LMS/LEAP and find out maybe the Qts is .55 and your building a good sq sub with a very flat frequency response, you need to fin a way to get that Qts down to something like a 0.20-0.30 for something that you may want, you got to find out what to do to get that Qts down, Maybe using a lighter coil with less windings, and lighten up on the moving mass? or add to moving mass?

Got a Fs of 35, but want a Fs of 25, how do you change that?

ad a heavier coil, with more windings, and open up the gap a tad 0.010" on a metal lathe, and add more weight?

But anyways, definitely I have some parts, and know where to get parts if your interested

On hand I have a TON of carbon fiber 12" cones with rubber surrounds- I need to sell these things

I have a few quad coil spiders- quad woven lead spiders- not the best, but they work

a few 10" frames, and 12" frames, and 12" rubber wrap around gaskets

I have like 65 single 4ohm dual layer 2.5" coils that match those carbon fiber cones perfectly

Well I guess I stated it wrong. I don't mean like make the motors and shit.. Like take a idk RE XXX motor and put it on a 18" basket with Fi sofparts... something like that...

What I'd really like to do, is do a 18" sub like the LVS MOJO I think it was, from Memphis. Sure triple baskets was rather impractical and pointless, but I'd like to do it for the sheer neatness of it, IMO.
