Meh, probably extremely overpriced. I couldn't see myself using that very often.

Heres one you built indirectly
E5200 @ 3.0 ghz
4 GB G.Skill Dual Channel
Zotac GTX 275
Antec 900
Thermal Take TR2 600 Watt
-
Yeah the fan and everything is going. I actually got it to play WoW for about an hour last night. But when I tried to play today after about 5 mins it happened again. XFX thinks it might be a faulty card so I might just return it and swap it out for a GTX 260 or something.
-
The reason I got that PSU was because it "doesn't take up much power" which made sense because it only needs 1 6 pin hook up.
-
It's an XFX HD5770. I have an Intel Core 2 Duo E5200 @ stock clock. Gigabyte EP43-UD3L mobo. 4gb G.Skill DDR2. Sigma Shark 585 watt psu. All on Windows 7 64 bit. I'll try to get a picture of the notification. Only things I've done with my PC in the past 3 days have been: Install Steam, Install WoW, Install the 9.12 and 9.12 Hotfix Drivers for my video card, and the drivers for my Motherboard.
-
Looks badass...If only I could get my video card straightened out. Keep getting the "Display drivers were not responding and have been recovered" notification. Starting to get frustrated after having my PC doing it for 3 straight days.
-
Well, just tried to hop onto WoW, got the black screen after about 5 mins Also is it just me or does that 3dmark06 score seem low for the parts I have?
-
Downloaded the drivers for my mobo etc, that didn't help it. I switched my ram so they're in the same color slot and it made it through 3dmark06. But right after 3dmark06 finished I got a notification that said "Display drivers were not responding but have been recovered". Anyways here's my 3dmark06 score:
-
Ahhhhhh that's probably the problem, I forgot that the mobo came with a disc haha
-
Yeah I have a 6 pin PCI plugged into my card. I didn't install those other drivers though, where can I get those at? That's probably the problem.
-
Well I have dual channel ram. Maybe I have it in the wrong slots? On some videos it said to put the ram in the same color slots, but on some others it said put them in right next to each other. I have mine right next to each other at the moment, maybe I should try switching them?

I have the XFX HD 5770, on a Samsung 933SN (19" Widescreen, native res is 1360x768)

Well, I finished my build this morning. But whenever I go to play a game, after about 10 or 20 mins my screen just goes black and I have to re-start my system. Also when I try to change the graphic settings (to high settings and to a different resolution) it takes even less time for my screen to black out. I have the latest drivers for my video card.
Thanks in advance

Well if this thread is still being somewhat watched and the OP still wants to build a PC I say go with the 5770. I just got mine this morning and its AWESOME! Still working out some kinks with my system as a whole but for my first PC build I'm beyond happy with its performance.
-
Yeah the 5970 is a f--king MONSTER! Although if you want that beast you better have some deeeeeeep pockets ($600+) and you would need a full tower because the thing is like...18'' long haha.
But Silvia helped me with my PC (ALMOST DONE!) and I'm doin exactly what you'll be doin. Ordering part by part and reading up on how things go together/work while I wait on parts. I can link you what I'll be running if you want. All came out to ~$900-$1,000 and should be a badass PC.

I just started listening to dub step, likin it a lot. Sounds like it has some nice bass in it.

My PM box is open

An Alienware is a dressed up Dell with some blue LEDs and maybe a liquid cooling system thrown in. It's still made of the same cheap internals at the end of the day.
Coming from a computer hardware engineering major, just telling you guys I know a thing or two.
If you're looking to only spend somewhere between 500 and 1000, I'd suggest building it. There are so many tutorials out there...plus for that money you'd be able to get FAR better components if you bought them all and built it up.
My $.02
That's true. I guess my biggest problem is figuring out what is compatible with what.
-
Like I said, I would build my own but I know pretty much NOTHING about how it all comes together
-
I've heard Aleinware is pretty good.
Yeah and also insanely over-priced. I'm only lookin to spend ~$500-$1,000
-
Anyone know anything about them? I want a custom gaming pc but I don't know how to put one together myself so. I've heard good and bad things about them so I thought I would get some further opinions. So if you have one lets hear it!

I agree with Moti. Build your own. With the amount you spend on a pre-built computer, you can build a better one for the same price on your own. I built my PC just after x-mas and it was one of the greatest investments i've made thusfar. The thing about building your own is the fact that you can keep constantly upgrading if you feel the performance is dragging. Hope this helps
