  1. Lol 800 watts, personally I think that's a little bit 2 small

Done right 800 is louder than a person would think, I have 850 and do low 140 db's on a bad day with 2 12's in the trunk. Term-lab.

These guys are giving good advice on starting small. I went and upgraded subs a little while ago. took me two days to have em locked up tight. you could have stood on them and not got them to move lol.

I'll probably blow my next ones as well.

As far as shaking I don't have a mirror anymore and I have to sleep with the t.v. and fan on because my ears ring. Driving down the highway when I hit the volume looking through the windshield I can see the glass doing waves like an ocean.

  2. my buddy ahd a ford contour with 2 12inch alpine r's and 2 image dynamics 15's, the 15's faced up, the 12's faced back, the 12's were ported, the 15's were sealed. some random 1000watt amp powered it, and it friggin beat, it shamed my setup.

some of that funky stuff will work, but it will always make you look real ghetto

Odd, I have a Ford Contour with a junky set up and my stuff pounds as well. Way harder than it should according to most who see it. Maybe contours are good spl cars??

  3. I was blessed as well fishing wise. I grew up in central oregon on the high plains desert. Trout fishing paradise on the deschutes river. Rainbows, German browns and brook trout. It seems I spent every waking minute on the banks of that river as a kid.

Then I moved to south-east texas and lived at a great bass lake. Lake Sam Rayburn. 660 miles of shore line. It also had great catfishing and gator gars. Plus frog giggin'.

  4. I wan't thinking along those lines. I was thinking of what they call "cheater" amps. I've talked to a guy that says he still has a few from back when he could still get them from the factory. Earthquake amps I believe is what he used and has. I can't remember for sure.

  5. I've wanted to learn as well. But this is one of the few times google has let me down.

I asked a install tech at my local audio store if he could mod an amp and he said "nope. I just order them modded from the factory"

    /shrug

  6. go with one of those kenwood amps

you sure your subs aren't dual 4? ts-w306c?

I have 2 svc 4 ohm 12's wired to 2 ohms. I've tried 4 amps so far and my kenwoods by far the best.

It's the 1700 watt peak model kac-something or other.

  7. I use this site because I am learning also.

The best thing besides all the knowledge is unlike alot of other places I feel o.k. asking a question.

I know I won't get hassled to much for being a noob like alot of other sites will.

some of the things I'm glad I found on this site are mla modules, Sundown. And of course the holy of holy's Fi flbtl's :)

Edit: Oh and forevrbumpns quarterwave/t-line tutorial. that really got me thinking about stuff I can do.

  8. :good: congrats :clapping:

Ty :) I'm not a usac member but they said if I joined in the next 90 days the points I won would count and I think it was a triple point comp.

Not sure what good it would do me though I don't think I have the time to go to the others that are states away.

I sure am tempted though. I had that system hitting harder earlier this year and with a little more work I might could get that back. I all I did was pull it out and put it back in. I lost 3ish db's somehow doing that.
