I'm not a ducktape guy, wood pannels to fill in the gaps and spray foam and deadener everwhere else... on my last build I used about a quarter of a can of foam... this build I plan on finishing that can..lol
-

so who is going? im planning on being there with my new build, completely finished or not, im going to make some quakes happen
-
I watched a live alpha demo of it a few weeks ago at C2E2 in chicago.. the game play looked better than black ops.. just the ragdoll effect of a guy falling from a Building was enough to make me say wow!
-
I ran the proto in 2.5ft for a while. It'll work and sound alright but not optimal. Less than 3ft ported and it noticeably starts losing bottom end.
Bottom end as in the lows or power handling on the lows?

I just realized that this doesn't have the fancy 2 way remote.. I only have the standard remote for it.... price drop $125 shipped
-
up for sale is a like new/never used viper 5500 remote start.... i bought it from a friend that started to install it and then he realized what he had gotten himself into... the only thing that had been hooked up was the hood pin switch and the wiring harness that it connects to(included).... what you see in the pics is what you get...
im asking $150 shipped or trade for an AQ4x90 + cash on my end
-
well honestly with the comps that we attended last year, i think u should be fine with any class you are in this year. I have faith ur gonna pull home alot of trophies this year, I hope i can pull a few in myself. Hell you might get a hairtrick or 2 which would be sick in that little thing lol.
EDIT: id look for a good shape 3000d, and if you get that 100.4 maybe you can help me with mine some lol.
no kidding..lol.. those crossovers are confusing if you look at them for the first time..or hundredth..lmao... and some :hairtrick: WILL be had! i honestly fully intend on launching my sunroof..lol
-
that port looks neat hope it works! mind telling me what happened to your 2200D? just fried or something?
the AQ2200d still works and slams, but i think i knocked a solder joint loose in the input section.... it sends a pulse to my woofers when i hit a bump in the road or jiggle the rca inputs.... i love the AQ amp but Jacob has won me back and i want more of that sundown audio good stuff..lol
and yeah, i couldnt think of anything else i could do to get enough port area with my trunk dimensions... it will look a tad different then that... the inside of the port will get sanded and the edges of the boards with be smoothed down for better air flow
i want to go ahead and give a shout out to Jacob for hooking me up on this... if anyone needs some of the BEST equipment around... dont hesitate to shoot the man an email!

Shits Weak! Nah j/k i cant beleive ur doing this, ur getting that 150 this year i can feel it.
Id give u a deal on my old 4ch, but i think u said its to big size wise.
lol Matt, im actually thinking about doing the same sundown amp setup as what you have... saz2500d(or saz3000d) and the sax 100.4... i dont know how im going to afford it, but i guess the old saying "you have to pay to play" comes in real handy on this one... and yes, the goal is to do 150+db as a daily ground pounder...
also i forgot to mention this, but as you can see in the first pic, they are the D1 spl aluminum coils... all i can say is this is going to be crazy when im done... the only downfall i can see at the moment is the fact that i will be in a modified class because the back dash is getting cut to fit this stuff in there...
-
What's happening to the old stuff?
I actually have a guy local that's buying the old equipment... my 6.5's and 4 channel will also be upgraded to something more powerful.
I think I just jizzed...
Hehe I about did when I put them side by side... that's the idea though... I don't think anyone has ever gone this big completely in the trunk of a saturn coupe....
Everyone can expect this to debut at slamology this year!
-
alright, so this delivery was number 2 of 2... so ill let some pics talk..
shitting on the competition!
so i have no clue how im going to fit all of this in my trunk.. but yes.. its all going in the trunk!
-
saz 4500 ?
Oh god I freaking wish..lmao..I may be talking to jacob about some power soon though..my aq2200d needs repaired so I may just switch back over to sundown amps...XD
Ill post up a couple pics after bit
-
12's are too light..lol..just a little anyways
-
so ive got a tracking number that says that im supposed to be receiving a package from sundown today... humm, the shipping weight is 34.0 lbs... hummm what could it be,what could it be? i guess we will all find out this afternoon! woot!
-
im not sure if there is any reason to say they are better or worse as a whole... sundowns sa series from my experience is a jack of all traits... its got the power handling and cooling capabilities of woofers much larger than them. ive had a pair of the 12's on an aq2200d for almost 6 months, and they do not even get warm... they sound fantastic, they get low, and the get damn loud... its the ultimate daily woofer
since you mentioned it...IMPO, the sundown SA series will shit all over Any kicker woofer accept the solo x's.... the cvx is a good contender, but i believe in the proper enclosure the sa woofer will dominate... and well the sa vs. solobaric... solobaric may get louder but the sa will sound and smell better..

i appreciate the advice guys, i can get it pretty close to 6cuft net for the 2 but im trying to conserve some room to mount my amps...
DIY round ports, any size you want!
in Fabrication, Fiberglass, Etc
Posted
I thought this would be something cool to share with everyone, and perhaps it might be cool or useful enough to be a sticky... im not sure if its been thought of before, but its something that came to my mind a couple weeks ago when i ran into the problem of not being able to buy the size of round port i needed.... the 6" pvc wasnt big enough and 8" pvc was just way too big...
i would also like to add that 6"pvc actually has an ID of 5.75"ish(i found that out today)
anyways, ive learned that fiberglass is your friend when your building some bat shit crazy stuff... anyways all you need is plenty of fiberglassing supplys, packing tape, box cutter, pencil, straight edge and some card board.... and i guess a mild mixture with acetone works great to get this shit off of your skin(nail polish remover works great also...
its almost the same concept as kerfing, but you dont have to cut out any slats... you just have to take your time and basically roll the cardboard and kinda fold it in between the ribs that are in the middle of the cardboard... keep rolling the cardboard back a forth until it isnt stiff and makes the cylinder shape that you want....
this is how i did mine...
now i actually needed a 6.5" diameter port... you will need a round shim of some sort, the first thought that came to my mind was the cut some 6.5"mdf rings... but i got lucky and happened to have one of my favorite pos kicker 6.5's laying around, so i put it to good use... anyways, you want to wrap the card board around your shim and tape it... then get your handy pencil and on the inside draw a line where the cardboard ends... then cut your tape and use a box cutter to cut along that line... once you cut that excess off everything should line up perfect and it should be the correct size........ butt up the ends and tape them together... should look a little something like this.... i went ahead and used some multi purpose cement on the seam just to make sure it wasnt going any where..
then its on to the fun part... FIBERGLASS!!! i did a layer of fiberglass cloth first so the cardboard would keep the correct shape... i used the cloth first just because its not as messy as chop mat... you want to keep your shim(s) in atleast through the first batch of resin or that round shape will end up being an oval...
im still working on my first one, this morning i did a double layer of chop, and i just need to do another single layer on the outside, hack off the excess and resin the inside and it should be pretty much good to go..
