  1. As we all know, MAX ratings on amps are completely useless. Sure there are quite a few good ones out there that are rated by the true power output, not what the amp could do for a split second if struck by lightning. This petition (was started at caraudioclassifieds.org) is to do away with MAX power ratings (and other false claims) put on amplifiers to help the common consumer (and people new to car audio), when they are looking for a new amp.

Saw it over there, figured some people here might want to check it out.

  2. This is just my personal opinion, so take it with a grain of salt. If you are asking about which sub you should buy wanting to push 4k+ to it daily, then you are just asking for trouble. Start off with something smaller, get a nice amp that pushes around 2k RMS. Pick up a pair of Fi Q's, AA Havocs, DC Level 4s, etc. Do plenty of research on them, build them a proper box, set your gains properly, etc.

I think you will be plenty happy with any of the above, and if it turns out to be not enough for your liking. You'll have some experience on doing it properly and you can upgrade later.

  3. No offense, but he never said it was on a TL. I'm sure there are a lot of people out there that don't know the difference between a number from a TL and a shitty handheld radio shack meter. The fact is he never said it was 155 on a TL, so wouldn't it be better to let him know that there are meters out there that are less accurate (by large margins), and that the only numbers that count are ones recorded by a TL rather than jumping down his throat about it?

Just my opinion, take it with a grain of salt.

  4. You could always attach it to your rear seats, or as you mentioned, in front of the box. Either way, if theft is a problem in your area use hex or torx screws (or both!) to attach it. Thankfully, as it's an amp hopefully they can't do too much damage to it in anger if they can't steal it. Also, I would recommend using the hex/torx screws for the mounting of your sub and along with L brackets to attach the box to the floor of your vehicle.
