  1. OK here's the situation.

We have a Hifonics XXVColossus that we just put in and can seem to get any sound out of it. Well thats not 100% correct we can get a very faint sound and if you place your hand on the subs you can tell they are ever so slightly bumping to the beat but no real output.

Things we have tried so far are:

    1) Tried 4 different RCA cable in an aray of combinations. We got some barrel plugs and just added them to the main run and nothing. we even took out the head unit and ran them new and still nothing.

    2) we took the original RCA's and put them in the rear channel of the 4 channel to see if they are at least sending out a signal and we get the same very faint sound to the door speakers

    3) we hook the RCA back tot the Colossus and grab another pair of RCA's and plugged them into the output rcas of the Colossus and ran them to the rear of the 4 channel amp and still just a very faint sound.

4)we are hooking the amp up to run 1ohm stereo so the left and right channels are seeing 1ohm loads.

5)we have verified that the head unit has the sub outputs turned on also.

6)couldn'd find any real settings on teh head unit that may be keeping the signal from getting to the Colossus

Can someone tell me how they have there Colossus wired up.

    1) how they are running there RCA's and how they have there subs wired

We could use any help we can get.. I will be on the board all day and will respond as quick as I can..

    Thanks guy..

can u post pics of the way you hav it wire and of the gain controls and master / slave switch

  2. As usual, Second Skin is doing its best to bring new and exciting products to the market.

This one is certainly no exception.

Over the years we have a had a lot of street rod and race car customer come to us looking for a product that could withstand the high temperatures on the engine side of the firewall. Some cars reach levels of 1000 degrees f. and for this application, we had no product to offer them.

Now we are about 8 weeks out from releasing our newest thermal insulation mat.

This new material is a multi layer composite that can withstand temperatures in excess of 1000 degrees when as little as 2 inches of air space is provided between the heat source and the product.

At ¼ inch thick and weighing in at .25 lbs per sq foot this is going to be our best thermal insulation material yet.

The foil is about 12 mils thick with a dimpled texture to increase surface area.

The Organic fibers are capable of withstanding temperatures over 1000 degrees, and the pressure sensitive adhesive is an acrylic hybrid that will grip on to any painted or primed metal surface, as well as plastic.

When subjected to a heat source of 1200 degrees the opposite side of the panel will get reduced to around 350 f.

When subjected to a heat source in the 300 degree range, the opposite side of the panel will get reduced to around 85 f. or so.

Not only can it be used on the engine side of the firewall, but it can also be used under the car, above the exhaust or transmission to block external heat as well.

Now, all we have to do is come up with a name for it.

That is where you come in. We are offering a $250 gift code to the first person that suggests the name that we decided to use.

We are posting this offer on several different forums and will be selecting a winner in the next month or so.

We have about 8 weeks before the product is ready to ship so we can take our time and wait for the right name to show up.

    Thanks for your help!

  3. Forget that Ford truck the pic of this International truck that I found makes the Ford look like a turd. It's a passenger vehicle and I remember reading somewhere about them that they come with an upgraded system. It was something like 2 15" L7's and components and a couple of amps. I saw pics a few years back of the stereo but I couldn't find any. I think that it was an option available right from International.

yea nbut the only thing is the ford f-650 is around 80 thousnd and the CXT is like 120 to 180 thousnd and with the ford you cant get the navastar motor cat motor or cum along the cxt just comes with the navastar motor

  4. Here you go :-)

http://image.motortrend.com/f/auto_shows/c...s+side_view.jpg (sorry, don't know why the html image tags won't work with it.... but you should be able to click to open)

It's an F650, totally custom fabricated from the back of the front cab seats, all the way to the rear bumper !

I think it's cooler than shit :-) Granted, I'd stick with four, much more agressive, and bigger yet, AT or MT tires. And if your going to create a truck as over the top as this, why would you try to keep the paint job so stock looking ? I mean, it's not like, this way, nobody is going to notice you ! LOL Mine would have to have natural flames.... but in poison green, and definately a bunch of carbon fiber.....

But anyway, this would make for a bad ass "starter" truck :-)

Oh.... This one has 6 custom leather Captains chairs, with video screen for each.... But I think it really only needs the front two, with a wall behind them :-)

    Peace,

    Fish

yea thats what im talkin about f-650 streeeeeeeeeetch out to 6 door

  5. this all depends on enclosure design and construction, BUT..

-adding resin will add an average of .1 of a decibel.. usually not noticeable by ear, but a good meter will pick it up

-resin DOES NOT add strength to the box. in order for resin to have strength, it needs rigidity, which is where the mat comes in. the longer and more flat the surface is, the less rigid the fiberglass structure is, which is why some people add rope or wire under layers to strengthen long flat runs (i wouldnt suggest it in a box).

-the self leveling 45's are a good idea, i just don't like the thought of that much resin without any reinforcement in one area, especially where (in this case) it is exposed to such violent vibration... resin without any reinforcement is very brittle, and very likely to crack, and id hate to see that happen in somebody's box. i am in no way knocking steve for his procedure.. it has obviously worked out for him (and others) very well.. i just prefer the wood inserts instead (see the writeup up top in this section)

-to answer your other question (krannyman) i usually put the resin on all interior walls, except the inside of the port. i then lay fiberglass over all seams in the box (again, except for inside the port). ill try and get some pictures up tomorrow night if that will help.

    hope that helps..

thanks you've been a huge help
