  1. Not all Home Depots sell Peal and seal. Down here they sell Protect-O-Wrap. Pretty much the same thing, except maybe a little thicker. The adhesive seem to be a little stronger also.

If you go with Peel and Seal make sure to heat it before applying. Also make sure area you're applying it to is clean of dirt and grease.

I'm fixing to do my Astro with nothing but Protect-O-Wrap and expanding foam. the amount I need would cost probably close to $1k if I went with dynamat. I think I could do it with this stuff for somewhere between $200 and $300

  2. We have a 4 camera, wireless, X-10 system here. It does pretty good, but is a pain to get things set right. Sometimes XP likes to crash running the software.

I also have a wintv card with a el cheapo camera on it. This is setup on a dedicated (well, somewhat dedicated, it is also the server for the house) system. This camera is aimed right at the Beretta and Astro and only records when there is motion, using gotcha! software. Hasn't let me down...... yet.

  3. If you want M$ to run your system for you, go right ahead. If you want to pay a yearly lease for an operating system, go right ahead. If you like the DRM crap, go right ahead. If you don't mind the lack of driver support, go right ahead.

Otherwise, stay with XP until the support has ended, in 2011. Or move over to *nix and be free forever.

I've tested vista throughout the betas. I refuse to upgrade to it, period. I'm now dual booting XP and linux, so I can get a grasp of the other side. It's actually pretty darn easy.

  4. Since your running multiple batteries, run 1/0 (or bigger) from the front battery to the rear. Then run the 2gauge from the last battery to the amp. Since the amp won't be that far away, should be too much loss.

    Just an idea.

  5. Damn that sucks. I don't have pics, but my car was "tried" last weekend. Let me explain the reason I say "tried".

    1) As long as the car is sitting in the driveway, there is a video and audio system aimed right at it. The monitor sits 2 feet from me. Sound is piped throughout the house using various little speakers.

    2) 2 years ago I removed the key lock and shaved the panel. Shortly after that I replaced the push button trunk release in the cabin with a computer case key (the round keys on older computers).

Well, they thought they could get into the car by going through the trunk. They popped the area would the lock "should" be. They found out that there is nowhere to put a screwdriver in to open the trunk without doing any more damage. By this time the dual sirens were blasting. when the front door opend, they hauled a$$.

Now there is somebody awake 24/7 watching and listening, just in case they decide to come back. I really hope they don't come back, cause it'll probably be me going to jail.

  6. Steve, I would show you how it's done in Ut2k4, but, since I barely have total control over left index finger (table saw incident), I can't play it anymore.

SHA-Schrapnel, if you ever see the name, better run and hide. Used to Hang out on Slades Hell Awaits quite a bit.

  7. Let's see if I got this right.

If you wire the 8volt batteries in series (+ to - and - to +), you'll get 16 volts.

    example. 2 8 volt 100amp batteries in series would give 16volt 100amp

If you wire the 8volt batteries in parallel (+ to + and - to -), you'll get 8volts

    example. 2 8volt 100amp batteries in parallel would give you 8volts 200amps.

I believe that is correct, but I could be wrong.

  8. mrwigglezdj, from the looks of it, there will be a few dB drag races in Jacksonville and Fernandina Beach soon. We had our first dB drag in, seems like decades, in Jacksonville last season at Oceanway auto Services. I'm expecting there to be some more shows from them.

There's also Gainesville. They seem to hold quite a few shows during the season. May be something to look into.

Can't forget SBN in Daytona. hopefully my new system will be ready for that.

  9. I've heard 68Hz. Haven't tested it myself though. As far as the slider, well... I've seen some angled boxes. I'm thinking about starting where the guide ends and make a straight wall from there. the opening will, of course, be trimmed to seal it.

I had some pics of other peoples enclosures in the Astro, but can't find them right now. Been collecting them since I bought mine, to get ideas.

  10. For 2 of those amps, your gonna need some alternator and battery power. No real need to rebuild a dash or add a console (if you don't already have one).

I'm still in the design mode for my '89 'Stro.

I can tell you this right off the bat. Sound deaden like crazy. I put my system in and found rattles in places I never new could rattle. The most rattle I have though is the roof rack, which will be removed this weekend. the rest can easily be fixed with peal and seal.

I've always like flat walls, easier to build/design. After looking at that Kicker setup above, hmmmm, that's got me thinking. I can't tell from the pic, is it ported or sealed? Looks like it may be ported down the center..

Time for me to hit up Termpro.
