Bump i would like to know how to test the + and - before i do anything else
-
Personally i like stinger 1/0 guage better. Like a lot of people on this forum i bought Knu power wire, and it was ok, but it annoyed me so i decided to switch to Stinger and WOW. It was like i had a bigger and better system, it was louder and pushed more pressure into the cabin. I would go stinger, but its a little expensive, but i got the hook up.

this is a 2005
Radio 12v orange/black + radio harness
Radio Ground black/green and black - radio harness
Radio Ignition yellow/green + radio harness
Radio Illumination orange/black (dimmer) + radio harness
Factory Amp Turn-on white/red (sub amp) + radio harness
Power Antenna N/A
LF Speaker +/- white/black - gray/black +,- radio harness
RF Speaker +/- white/red - gray/red +,- radio harness
LR Speaker +/- white/purple - gray/white +,- radio harenss
RR Speaker +/- white - gray +,- radio harness
do any of these match yours?
Im sure they all match, BUT the speaker wire in the doors doesnt match anything at the radio. I just want to know how to figure out which is which so i dont put it in the wrong spot in the crossover

go here,
and just look up your vehicle....
If you mean under the vehicle wiring section, my car isnt there
-
So just the wires in the doors? If so then the easiest way to see what one + and what ones - is to hook a speaker up. If any one else know please speak up id like to know.
well i dont really have speakers lying around to mess with so.. I just dont understand why they dont label them, AND why the speaker wires in the doors, are different color than at the H/U, cuz then i would be easy
-
1: Velcro, tie wraps or hot glue gun
2: O scope on DMM
3: use a AA battery. Put 1 speak wire on the positive side & the other on the negative side. If the speaker pokes out, you have found the positive & negative wires. If the speaker sucks in, you have the wires backwards.
Thanks man ill get right on it. But i dont understand the battery thing, cuz i have the speakers out and all thats left is the wire. With no speaker attached.
-
1. How do you mount cross overs inside the door?
2. How to set an Mb Quart 4 channel settings on the amp?
3. How to test a speaker wire's positive and negative? (not shown on stocked speakers)
-
Box looks sick as hell, and i heard someone on this site told me to not Caulk the inside of the port. Is that true ? i was kind of questioning it, cuz dont you want that bish sealed
-
Run wire from positive in front to the positive to the batt in the back. Ground the battery in the back to the chassis. From there ground the amp and run the power to the trunk battery.

if your cheap buy raamat works well
x2 just ordered my raamat

Tell him to send it in and get it fixed then sell it or keep it for later use. I always personally hated pioneer im more of a alpine type of guy. Id like to try that power acoustics hu that has buttons that resemble the moto razor.
what you got for a fi woofer? like it? I want to get the bl 12 or dc level 4xl off a sundown 1500
bro i am loving the Bl man, its so much louder than what i was expecting, and the excursion on a T-1000-1bd is rediculus, but i have never heard a Dc lvl 4 in person so i cant really compare the 2. But for me i am not doing anything other than Fi as of now.

Anyways it doesnt cost anything but time to ask them if they are under warrenty. Hell i got 2 subs from crutchfield and blew them off a big amp for months and they kept sending me new ones. lol warrenties are magic just use them
when his Pioneer H/U blew, he bought a new one, without sending it in to pioneer even though it was defective. Now its sitting on a table in his house depreiciating in value. $270 dollars wasted. hopefully he will send it in soon so he can get the most money from it as possible.
-
sorry for double post comp messed up
-
Yes even if they are bridged they can still fry... I would just go to best buy and tell them the situation. They should help you out and that sub should be under warrenty and so should the amp. Go to best buy.
thats what i said, but hes getting a RE SX 15, and he just wanted this to last, but i guess it was too much to ask. Now i said go to Best buy have them replace or fix ur shit, and keep it in the box and sell it new. And use it to pay for the amp, sub and batt. But idk what hes gonna do.
-
Theres a million things that could go wrong... maybe the amp was giving the subs a cliped signal. my guess is that they were not broken in right... also possible that the sub was defective. try unhooking the wires from the blown sub and hook them into the sub that works to make sure he didnt fry a channel in the amp. if it works then just get another sub or ask best buy for replacement.a lot of things can come into play.
They could be getting a clipped signal either because of the HU, the songs played, or from the amp not seeing enough voltage which all will send a clipped signal which will cause the death of a woofer real quick.
Box could be a factor as well, or it could just be a bad woofer from the factory, hard to tell when you dont build it yourself.
It sucks cuz all his shit has been messing up some how, his Pioneer head unit fried, "defective" and now this happens two weeks before i install his new system. And how can a channel fry if its bridged? He bought the box loaded from RF (best buy). The amp brand new, but of course when i was looking back there to disconect the wires i saw his start up and RCA's were ran with his power. (no wonder how they install so fast....)
-
sub is blown. Some amps have that feature where they will go into protect if they are picking up a blown sub.
Worst case scenario, amp is fried too.
well the amp will turn on fine, with the car on acc, i unplugged the speaker wire from the amp. He got his system was installed at best buy so its under warranty, but why would it blow. He has had them less than 6 months and doesnt abuse them.

Hes got two Rockford Fosgate P2 12's and a Rockford Fosgate p-500-2 and a RF 1 farad cap. He was playing in the air tonight, lower than usuall and then the music stopped. We go to the trunk smoke is coming out of one of the vents. Only the left. The right will play, but i think the amp goes into protect. Any Ideas?

i have an enclosure that is 23" tall x 23" wide x 38" deep for 1 18" lvl 4 xl. My box has 45s in every corner and is also braced. Should i buy some resin and just coat the whole inside of it to seal the pores in the wood? would it be worth buying any fiberglass sheets or is that really just for strength and support. Thanks in advance.
It definitly wouldnt hurt to glass the inside of the box. Itll strengthen the box and make it less likely to break
-
Sorry to thread jack, but how much Sq. Feet of Deadener is usually used for the trunk?
-

rsd comps are made by pheonix godl and sound alot better then ESA line MB quarts
as for the amp, ive seen better looking around on the various ca sites and ebay.
I cant use 6.5's i am looking for 5 1/4's theyll be going into my door at the stocked location. What amp would you recommend for the two ESA comp's
-
id spend 10-15 more and get some RSD comps and look around for another amp
Pheonix Gold? I have heard these comps with this same amp and i thought they sounded amazing And whats wrong with the amp?
i like the amp especially for the price. i think there might be a misprint on the speakers rms power handling. i'm pretty sure they can only take about 40 rms. you might want to give them a call and double check.ok

2 of these
