Age means absolutely nothing man. You are living in the past, you grew up using asphalt based CLD, that needed to be used full coverage(when I mean full coverage I mean per panel). The new butyl based CLD mat work much better with less coverage compared to the old asphalt based products. This in turn saves the consumer money, saves time, and saves waste, which is what everyone wants, including you(I hope)!
Rather, they are a constraint layer viscoelastic damper that converts the vibrational energy in to low level heat. This conversion of energy makes it 300% more efficient than traditional mass loading tar boards and asphalt mats while weighing half as much!This is why Second Skin started producing SPL Tiles because the consumer has been well informed now, aside from the SDS politics.

I cant believe you deleted that post. It was informative, and nothing was false about it. Ant, himself has said that 100% coverage is unnecessary on his forum(diyma). I have not discredited SS at all, I even made sure of that, Ant's products are great(I myself have his products in my car).
Your large ego has also increased your arrogance into not wanting to learn from anyone else, even if they may be younger. The whole point of my post was to help people save money as well as time(which may as well be the same thing). Be grown up about it my man, threats are unnecessary. If you think my logic is flawed explain why, dont just tell me it works.
For anyone else, if you are an SPL competitor, the CLD mat may bring your SPL numbers down. The CLD mat converts vibration into heat.

word up bill, i cant wait.....im not pulling my entire truck apart though to put it in, will it make a difference just having SOME in there? When i say some i mean the entire floor pan under everyones feet (front and back) but im not taking the console or my amp rack and box out to do it.
Not as much as you would like. When using the MLV full coverage is necessary as much as possible, otherwise all the noise will come from where it is not covered. But you can strategically place it if you have to, Probably over the wheel-wells would be the best place to start, then the floors, and if you got more the firewall on the inside of the cabin. Yea you wont have to remove the console, that console acts as a barrier on its own.
You seriously need to reconsider that remark earlier about saying "yes" to Ben_G's question about laying the whole floor with CLD. You are confusing reinforcing structurally with dampening(noise control); I dont think you understand fully how sound dampening works, Even Second Skin Rep will tell you that its a waste of good product as well as waste of money. In every car/truck the floor is not completely flat there are a lot of curves, the curves are the strongest points. You will only need the mat in the completely flat spots are where the panel has enough surface panel to resonate audibly. The roof might require more coverage since its a bigger panel, but the rule of thumb is about 25-30% coverage of the whole panel will need treatment with a CLD mat.

I have no deadener or anything on my floor and am considering getting some LL to throw down thereThe Luxury Liner has been reviewed by many, and has proven to be promising! The only downside with the luxury liner is the decoupler foam(the ensolite material) is attached to the Vinyl, this makes it quite difficult to lay down in tight spots where you need more flexibility. If you already have the ensolite to spare then you can buy just the Vinyl barrier from another company, such as FoamFactory or SDS; You'll save money that way, The LL is the way to go for an all in one solution. The Vinyl is heavy, its about 1lb per sq foot. So if you are worried about weight then sorry you cannot have this level of noise control without it.

funny part is, the side effect was supposed to be the road noise but it worked so good, its the other way around. Its like ya, no more road noise and on top of that, the system sounds better LOL!

The MLV (Luxury Liner by SS) is much more suited for tackling road noise than laying the CLD on the floor. A barrier(the MLV), works more effectively at reducing road noise due to the barrier being able to filter high frequencies more efficiently compared the CLD or just foam. If you get a chance add the Luxury Liner(or the pro) if you can. The closed cell foam is to decouple the barrier since you cant possibly have a real "air gap" in a vehicle. But make sure you use the foil tape on the edges, the sound will leak out if you dont! Which makes all the work you did less than optimal. Before you know it the vehicle will be even more quiet, and you feel like youre riding in a Maybach.
But I agree the best thing you did was invest in good tires, most annoying road noise comes from shitty tires(such as the BFGood KDW2's) !
In summary for everyone else, use the right tool for the job, laying a bunch of CLD helps for structural borne noise, even then results come with diminishing returns, more is not better! Dont waste time by laying full coverage of CLD on the floor to stop all vibration, that's not what its meant for, its just to stop the panel from making noise.

Well a lot of people from my school have asked me to build boxes for them and I am doing them for a resonable price and the thought popped into my head. Why don't I make it a small time service? Well after a bit of designing and thinking I have came up with what is now gonna be known as germantown audio. I made a shirt and was wondering what you guys think. Here are the shirts. Glad you liked it! New pods are in the process. The door buzzing doesnt bother me that bad. Not sure if I can even fix it. Its not the door itself buzzing its when the door is closed and rubbing against the dash.
btw what did you think of the pods of the previous tweeters, look pretty oem?

I am in Frisco every day from 8am to 10am on mwf, and from 10am-2pm on t/th at Collin College off wade. Where do you work? If you are serious about a demo let me know, but keep in mind its not an spl car its more of an sq, not sure if you like those.

what is the difference in getting these and a quality set from somewhere else?Well I can make you any RCA cables really at any lengths. The connector uses a Neurtrik, it has a very strong bite, so it does not come loose, it will always give a good direct signal. This cable is shielded(foil shield) and each wire has a twist inside to reject noise, but the pair is not twisted together.
If you are asking whats the difference between this cable and oh lets say the Knukonceptz Krystal kable, those cables are NOT shielded, non of the "shields" are grounded on them, I have photos to prove this, if anything they act as an antenna. the only thing keeping them from making any noises is that they are twisted.
he made those himself, and he's a pure sq gurue(sp) so that means there about the best u can get for the $Much thanks, I am no guru, just an SQ enthusiast! I try to keep the cost down, but even custom cables dont run cheap since I cant order in bulk

i wasnt looking for a price on them i asked what MSRP was. either way whatever, cool on performance but review does me no real use without knowing what the manufacture thinks they are worth.
im a big advocate of price to performance ratio
I still cannot answer that, because I do not know. I tested these when they were in the proto phase. They wont be released until a few months, that is when MSRP will announced, unfortunately. I wish I could answer it but I can't pull numbers from my rear
edit: just got the word from Mark(one of the owner's of H-Audio), they will be available mid next week! You'll get a price point by then!

Okay I got the go ahead to reveal what Tweeter X was/is It was a prototype at the time of testing, now in production(but wont be available until a few more months), model from H-Audio called the "Enigma".
Build Quality
- When I first received these from my H-Audio Dealer to test out, Stereo Clarity I was real impressed with the material used for the flange. It wasnt plastic, it was a cast metal type of flange. Extremely sturdy and durable. The tweeter has a small amount of texture to it too, so it doesn't look too boring. The tweeter does weigh a bit heavy for the size, but that actually made me smile when holding it, you wouldn't expect that kind of weight from just looking at it.
Installation
- The tweeter is pretty shallow, it does not have a large chamber, which lead me to believe these wont be able to play low. You can mount these almost anywhere. These are top mount tweeters that need to be "pressure" fitted, so cutout is very important when installing them. I chose to mount them in the corners of my dash(00' accord sdn) on-axis sitting on some acoustic foam. I didn't actually mount them solid to a surface because my tweeters right now are way larger than these and the mounting hole would not fit for them.

Tonality
- First CD I listed to was a mix CD we made at the DFW tweeter showdown day. It had a bunch of music from the Focal discs. Lots of classical and jazz string playing on this CD, I don't the names of the songs but I do remember one of them was "Mumbai Theme". The triangle in that song is well defined, like razor sharp defined. You need no level eqing to align it. The trade off to this well defined stage is the sound does sound rather thin and not full enough, at least for my tastes.
- Tool - "Stinkfist", "Aenma", "Lateralus", "46&2" why? because I really wanted to jam out at the time, I wanted to see if it could handle the crunch of the guitar all over the place. and boy it does it well! It was like I had just listened Tool Cd for the first time ever. You could really hear the high hats and ride with no bleed at all! The toms and kick drum sounded snappier than ever. I thought my windshield was going to break it sounded like a hammer hitting the windshield(obviously exaggerating a bit, but it really does sound better and snappier than I have heard before). I didn't sense any ear fatigue after listening for an hour so.
Side Thoughts
- These can be played down to 2.5khz, but I do not recommend that you do! Try to keep these at least at 4khz on upwards. These should be used in a 4-way setup(3way front stage) if all possible. If you want to use these in 2ways like I have, make sure your mids can play pretty high to bring in the fullness.
- For fun I tested them in the house, they performed pretty weak in the house. I noticed the same thing when testing Hybrid Audio's L1v2. But the moment you listen to them in the mobile environment it sounds completely different(for the better)! In the house they sounded dull and lack of top end. If I have to guess the tweeters are relying on the odd curves a shapes of the car to act as a waveguide and react with that to bring back that sparkle. In the end it worked well in my opinion.
- I do not know of any pricing on them at the moment, since these were the final prototypes that I had gotten to test for free. Please do not ask me for any prices on them. email/call your H-Audio Dealer for more information on that.
Conclusion
Pros:
- A great little 1" tweeter for running in a 3-way application, and 2-way (under close supervision)
- Gets loud enough, clear, tonality is well neutral for my standards, solid materials the tweeters are made out of, and shallow depth.
- No Bling! (one of the reasons I didnt like HAT was the fact it had too much chrome/shiny alloy to them)
Cons:
- Doesnt disperse wide as I would like them too, but this could be install related
- Sounds thin when running on a lower X-over point, not H-Audio's fault since they don't recommend running them lower than 5khz, it was not designed for that at all.
- Sensitivity could be better
* These are just my opinions of the product, do not complain if my testing was flawed, because every testing will have flaws, I just tested real world. No anechoic chambers or Klippel testing from me

Meade, Since you have everything out, are you planning to address that heat issue you were experiencing from under the car coming into the cabin? How about a better heatshield above the exhaust.

The lithium is probably for racers who want to save weight for a track car. Lithium is extremely unstable especially in heat and under load. You would never want to use that for a daily car imho.
