  1. Did the shop try a new head unit? Do you have the noise with an mp3 player hooked up in the rcas going to the eq/amps?

had noise with 3 different headunits hooked in the car

no noise when i ran the eq off the ipod on aux bypassing the headunit. one other thing is i think my radio is touching the firewall behind it it reall isnt any room behind it the factory radio is smaller than aftermarket and not as deep

  2. Absolutely. Get a multimeter, set it to turn caps lock off, then turn it to ohms. You'll want less than .5 ohms from point to point if you can.

First, run a dedicated ground to the rear battery to feed your head unit.

Does your EQ have constant, remote and ground, or just ignition and ground?

The factory tire jack housing is piss poor too. You need clean chassis, not things that are just tack welded onto the body.

constant remote and ground for the eq

the frame by the tail light i scraped down to bare metal i have another spot behind the battery i can use thats frame

im going to run a ground from the hu ground all the way back to my battery

is it okay to use the power antennae of the hu to power the eq?

    thanks for the help

  3. Noise when you turn on headlights and certain things most definitely sounds like a bad ground. Your seat belt bolt is one of the shittiest places to ground things. You'd be better off grounding your eq off of the tip of your wang than your seat belt bolt. Move that ground to a better location. Next, find a better location for the power of the equalizer. Where is your head unit grounded? Where are your amps grounded? Do you have a 2nd battery?

my headunit is grounded of the wiring harness wherever te factory harness is grounded

what if i power the eq off of the power antenna output of the headunit or just splice it in to the power of the wiring harness

im going to move the ground back where the he unit harness is

my amps are grounded to the battery less than 3 feet

the second battery is grounded to the frame by the tailight and to a bolt that secures the factory tire jack housing

  4. i had a bad whine up until last night... i took off my capacitor... no whine!!! so just in case u have one, i say fuk a capacitor... lol thank u...and i have a question...how come u didnt just run ur eq off of ur power ant. wire from the radio???

damn i didnt even think of that

i dont have a capacitor just a battery in the back i know its grounded good

  5. i have had my system out of my car for a while but i hooked it all back up (07 camry)

i have a bad engine whine coming through my head unit . I also have a clarion preamp/eq that has a real bad ground noise also that i believe is just boosting the headunit noise. the only thing different from the time it was last hooked up is a 1/0 big 3. could that cause ground noise?

i am using the power from from the wires that came from the cigarete lighter adapter and the ground from my factory amp ground location.

when i took power str8 from the battery through a jumper cable the ground noise was considerably lower but still there

i have tried using different ground spots and i have tried grounding rca's along with trading them all out.when i ran rca from my other car str8 to the amp no noise. when i ran it to the eq noise.

any suggestion what i can try?
