  1. electronic crossovers are more accurate than passives, and you can change the xover freqs. to where you want them.

You must not have read the other posts becuase thats not true. Anyone can deigns and build passives to be just as accurate as active. It's just a lot easier with active.

  2. It's more about control than anything else, passive can be limited and requires someone with knowledge on how to make custom crossovers and active allows anyone to customize the sound themselves. Neither one are really better than the other its just a matter of making changes as needed and active allows the most options in car audio to make the changes needed for your particular car and setup.

X2 You explained this very well. I am currently building my own passives and I have seen this same thread ask over and over here and other sites and it always turns into a slinging fest.

  3. Yea I thought that to, also in one of the many posted video's of the same thing there was a fisherman who said it a condition that happens out on the water alot but only in certain area's, becuase you know people on the tube are gunna be like "It's aliens I knew they existed!" lol

  4. Go to the Members build/ Build section and look at all the builds that are close to what your doing...Yes you'll have to do some major looking around but it beats doing it wrong the first time out. 3/4" should be the smallest you ever use for a sub enclosure. Look at the technics used for bracing, sealing, porting, wiring and such they may differ from what you learned in school.

  5. You should probably start a new thread for some of what you posted tacoma. The main reason I argue for passive is cost, and by that I mean if someone takes the time to learn about crossover networks and how to build them themselves properly and for the desired effect then they will save alot of money. The easy way is active and yes I have run both and I have to say for me at least passive is way better, but I don't run rears and I don't run speakers all the way down my doors even where they will not be heard. The goal of any system should be that you have speakers from high to low covering all frequencies that music is reproduced in and that those speakers are filtered in the correct frequencies properly. Most passives cover this well enough, however for me I have and am now designing my new system to go from 30-12k hz using 8"s 4"s and 3"s and building my own passives with 400rms on each set. I guess everyone has there opinion and everyone's situation is going to be different and there are too many variables when telling someone that passive is better then active. I am defintely NOT saying that passive is better becuase neither is better then the other but more or less that it depends on what your money is like, how much time and skill you have. I think the OP had is answer a few post's ago so I'll shut up now!
