I have same headunit. Unplug harness, or battery and put it back. See if that works.
I went over every connection basically, redid it all. and Yeah, I believe unplugging the harness worked. Thanks guys

do you have a DMM? if so, test each speaker lead going to the HU to check the ohm load, i think if it is disconnected it wont show, and if its grounding out you might get some crazy result.
It seemed fine at the crossover, Should I try it at the headunit harness?

I was demoing my system, and after I was done I turned it down, and some time in between that it started saying protect mode. I don't know why it is doing this, I pressed the reset button and it did nothing.
Does anyone know what this could be? I'm thinking its a short probably with my speakers somewhere....

Amp doesn't even get warm. No attenuation button on the HU. I've got an LOC that's brand new, so I hope that's not the problem.
The spare sub is just an old Adire Audio Shiva that's been in the closet for 5+ years. I was just trying to think of another way to test the amp out and that's the only thing I could come up with.
see if your LOC gains are maxed out. could be the problem!

Theres 5% 20% 35% 50% just do two layers of 20 and you get 10% what i did
theres more than that, they sell 2.5%, 15% 40% 10%

Ok guys I have an 18 inch Fi BTL Dual 1 running off of an orion hcca d5000. When I play it at full blast for maybe 1 minute, the dustcap gets hot and it starts to smell a bit. At full blast my voltage drops to about 11.5 volts. i just set the gain with a multimeter and it still gets hot and smells. Also, the amp does not even get warm when it happens. any ideas?

is it the 5000 rms at 1 ohm one or 2500 at 1 ohm?
ur probably clipping it if you have it wired to 2 ohm
