  1. Alright well earlier this year my headunit crapped out (stock ford explorer 2002 xlt) and wouldn't pull the cd in, the things that pull and eject the cd don't work. Then randomly it started working, and after getting my car repaired it stopped. So now my Bday is on sunday, and I figure I might as well get a new headunit.

I'm looking for a decent, affordable headunit. Near the 150$ dollar range I guess. More or less, Idk how much to be exact and I know I can't get that good of a headunit for that price but it should be better than nothing.

I'm looking for subwoofer rca output, preferably 4v preout or higher (idk, maybe 2v won't be that bad?), iPod Touch (1st gen) hookup and so I can play it through the headunit, and thats about it? Something fairly easy to use.

a Double din will fit my explorer, but I don't mind with single din or double.

    Help me out guys!

  2. no problem i understand i get vin#s all day long cuz i run a bodyshop and do it for a living no personal info can be aquired except who owns the vehicle dmv will not relaese any personal info off of a vin tag and it gives none except the options and what vehicle was made with

Yeah IDK, I feel so stupid for even posting that lol....

I'll get it for you today after school. Thanks a ton dude.

  3. LMAO about the vin thing... anyone can get your vin from looking at the damn windshield.. they cant do much with it besides well say hey i have a 02 explorer with the vin bla bla

thats what i was thinking when he said it, i was like i can look at my windshield so that makes no sense lol..

well anyways I can give it to you lowryder...

I'll just pm you tommarow I'll get it off my car.

  4. why wont he let u do it urself, if u fck it up its ur fault not saying u would. its not that hard, time consuming because u dont know much about cars but thats it. its so much cheaper, i put a new exedy racing clutch and flywheel in my celica when i was like 17 by myself, ripping out a tranny is way harder then changing ur struts. now that im thinkin about it i think u might need something, i cant remember to save my ass but i think its to compress the strut for install, idk if this is the case idk if u can do it urself, im sure sum1 will chime in and fix what i said

Thats exactly what he was talking about, he said it was dangerous for the spring to break or shoot out. If I paid for the car they wouldn't care but they paid for it.

I wanted to install my own alternator, but they wouldn't let me do that lol.

  5. if you can shoot me a vin # i can look up cost on all and what labor should be

I don't think I should be releasing that info, atleast my mom doesn't want me to.... sorry man. They are telling me that people can get a lot of private info from that like the title and shit... lol idk man, no offense to you.

Its a 4.0l v6 sohc (i belive, might be the dohc)

any other info you would need...?

EDIT: okay, i'm almost positive that what my bro told me is false. I don't know though if its safe to release my vin still

  6. Alright, I have an 02 explorer xlt 2wd. The two rear struts, two springs, and two links need to be fixed. They all go together from my understanding. It is a common problem on explorers, and it is of course messed up on my car. I got quoted at a local over priced place, for 730 something to fix it all including labor. the Links might not be necessary, but the mechanic said I might need/want to replace them. 700$ is just too damn much, I mean I understood it would have been a couple hundred but I'm trying to look for the most affordable place.

Anyone know how much this should cost? I know some people here are mechanics/ own shops.....

Thanks for all you guys' help.

  7. so you made your port smaller and longer...both of which drop tuning

but i think you did somethign wrong somewhere, 7cubic feet net, 20.5x5 port, 21 long, gives approx 38hz tuning

It was supposed to be 22x5, 20.5 inches long = 33hz. isn't it different for my type of port to calculate tuning tho?
