That looks great. Thanks. That was pretty fast
your sig looks a little pixelated, did you do something to it after the other guy changed the color?
I made the pic smaller, thats it. That should not have effected the quality.
-
Could anyone change this to green also? Thank, you.

i didn't see anywhere about you doing all of the big 3. you did alt to bat and bat to ground but did you do the alt chasis or engine to ground in 0 gauge as well? that could be the problem too. with that H/O alt you deff should not have electrical issues especially with that 1.2k
I did not upgrade the chasis to engine. I didn't have time yesterday. I figured the mechman would stop all the problems. But it didn't. I think the draw on te battery for the car and the system is more then the battery can keep up with.
-
It wouldn't hurt!
This is about what I'm thinking. I will start looking

dont those cars have a stock run from the alt going to the fuse/relay box?
I dunno. I wouldn't use that anyways. There is positive plugs by the fuse box for accessories. I figure straight to the battery would be better

It's the headlights and interior lights that dimm The amp has 4 guage inputs. I know the Optimus are not that great compared to at audio brand batts, but I didn't think it woul need this much for 1200wrms. The idle output of the alt is 160a I believe.

So I just put two DC lvl 2 8"s on a DC 1.2k into my wife's 05 Monte Carlo SS. She has a optima red top under the hood 4 guage front to back, and her lights dim really bad so I did the battery to alt, and battery to ground with 1/0 guage still dimmed. Then I put a mechman 270a alt in and the lights still dim at idle and at 2500 rpm. I checked the voltage at the amp and it does not drop below 14.07 at idle but the lights still dimm pretty bad. Do I need another battery just to help with the voltage pull? Any thoughts?

Thanks guys. The shift knob was actually a Walmart special. I like it.

The homemade one's? The tube has to be 13" long or it won't work for meI have the flares and a couple 6" ports laying around. Sell it too you cheap if your interested. I will have to check the length though
Sorry, i must have read your last post wrong. I didnt see that you must have yours flush mounted. Mine cant be flush mounted and yes, they flare out to 8".

cool, I live in Marysville, not too far.

when i flared my own ports, i didnt take the time to make them sit flush, so they extended out of the box, also i needed to save as much box space as possible.
I thought i had replied to something simular, lol

from what i could find, my box dimensions were 41w x 16h x 20d the box did not sit all the way up against the seats. I had to attach the sides and the top and bottom together, put it in the trunk, then put the back and baffle on, then mount the subs. It was a tight fit. I would have to remove the trunk rubber seal, shave the corners of the box down, and remove the trunk latch to get it in, and it still scrapped on the 6x9s and factory amp. Box was 6.13 cubes before displacement.
-
I will try to find the dimensions of the box, I tried to sell the box, no one wanted it, so i tore it apart about a week ago.
Sealed off, with thick cardboard and duct tape
It actually made a noticeable difference.

i thought making flared 6" aero was going to be hard too but it wasnt
It was fairly easy. My 3rd and 4th ones looked nice. The first two were uneven and ugly, they went on the inside.
-
I got a noticeable gain by flaring, and it looks better. Also less port noise. I had 2 15"s in my monte with subs and ports forward and was able to have two 6" ports.
-
I have those same ports and I wouldn't buy them again. The way they taper down when you add PVC to it, it leaves a gap and not a smooth surface. Just buy the PVC and flare it yourself.

Got a little more work done. Installed my new JVC KW-AVX640 in dash dvd player.
This dash kit sucked. I had to take a dremmel to it and cut pieces off, and even sand down the inner edges of the face to make this deck fit.
I didnt get a pic of the completed install of the deck, it was too dark by the time i finished.
I ran a strand of 1/0 from the front to back
JUST WAITING ON BUYING AN AMP.
Finished up my box.
The external part of the port will extend out a few inches an be flared.
The more i get ready, the more excited i get to hook it up and see what these little guys can do. The final box install should be done in the next few days. So i should get some pics with the subs in.

Yes, if you spend more money you can buy anything new instead of used.
