Shit same here.
As long as you aren't near the thermal limits of your sub and know how to play it safe, clipping isn't nearly as bad as everyone makes it out to be.
That's why I love having a wall. I do a lot of heat checks since I can just reach back and feel the cone. I guess I've been listening to clipped shit since I started downloading mp3s. I'll start buying cds when I stop spending on my system. Lol.

Yeah there is a few songs I'm really itching to hear. Makes me want to start my rebuild asap, too bad it's -25 out.
I know I listen to a lot of stuff that is clipped. Haven't blown a sub in four years or so, think I'm good.

Cool. What all does he run? I did some Meca comps this summer and I was in Modified 5. Only managed a 151.5 at 39hz. My highest drive-by was 124.7. Absolutely nobody in my class up here, was kinda lame.

The version I have (torrent download) definitely slams, but the notes are very loud at the beginning and the end, but seems not as loud in the middle of the song. It's very noticeable, especially the 31hz note. I've always wondered about this.

Glad to see sonotubes mentioned in here. It's the type of sub I have. www.svsound.com I picked it up when this company was just starting to take off. They look like they're doing really awesome now. They make some killer subs, albeit pretty damn expensive.

HT is a lot of preference.
I like my HT in a smaller box tuned low. if this were my setup- i'd do 3cuft @25hz with ~38-40sqin of port
For this idea, make a big box that has changeable volume and tuning!
6cuft then cut to 5 then 4 then 3
then change your tuning from 28 to 25 to 18 in these alignments. I guarantee after this you will find an alignment suited to your taste and you'll learn about that particular rooms acoustics, corner load if possible.

x2 I like your thinking Drew. There's just some movies that you'll be glad you have that super low tuning. I can't really hear anything below 20hz, but definitely feel it.

I think they'll do just fine in an HT setup. I definitely recommend tuning low like you're planning. My home sub is tuned to 20hz and with just a PE 275 watt plate amp it'll move your pant legs a little bit. Two DC 12s would definitely rock the house. Shouldn't cost much to whip up a nice box for them and try it out. You planning on aeroports?

I have a 9886 collecting dust. My wall of 4 SX 15s kind of did a number on it though. Started skipping then starting whining. Lol. I have no use for it, not sure how good it is really. I'll give it to you if you want, just cover the shipping. If it works out for your needs and is good, then throw me a couple bucks afterwards.

And to update this thread, my new wall absolutey sucks. Not sure what happened, but I already want to rip it out. Very very disappointing.

Hey Eric, I got it used off of caraudio.com. Was in absolutely mint shape. I replaced a Memphis 4kw with it. Couldn't be any happier. Wanted to get a direct comparison between the Memphis and the Cactus on the Termlab, but the shop I go to test at has had problems with their meter. I'm in love with the Cactus. One of if not THE best amp I've ever owned!

i was up saturday night too. got the box done around 2am and got 1st place sunday.
i like the lamp in the box. gotta have light so the DBz can find their way out.
Lol! I've been using that lamp for years now. My parents have horrible lighting in the their garage, it always comes in handy.

Loading BTLs by yourself at 2am in a wall is fucking ball breaking! Most of what I left is cosmetic now,can't wait to hear this thing though.

Shot of the box. I know most people build to the shape of the vehicle, but this is easier for me and it usually works well. Still a long ways to go. And for bracing, I'll be breaking out the threaded rod.

Very cool Meade Jr! I wish we had this stuff when I was 13. Back then I was using my parents 8mm camera, ghetto rigging RCA cords to dub our own voices over tv shows, stop-frame animation, ahhh good ole times.
