  1. Nope, doesnt get hot at all! Really need some help on this one!!
  2. we took the subs out, redid the wires, cleaned all the grounds, cleaned the bat terminals, checked all the wiring and fixed what we thought was bad connections and the system is still shutting off. the amp light still turns orange. is there anything else?
  3. He has two very big Planet Audio 12's dvc4 subs but they are in series parallel and not bridged so i believe hes running the amp at 4ohms? but, yeah, some of the wire in the box was exposed so were fixing that right now. so hold tight fellas, we might need you!!
  4. its an old amp he got from another buddy and he doesnt have the manual. we took off the ground connections and rescrapped another location with a clean contact and its still doing the same thing.
  5. Welcome aboard!! You will find alot of interesting cars and the guys and gals know their s#&t!!! You will learn alot!!!
  6. we are out here now checking the grounds and everything is tight! its been hooked up like it is for about a year
  7. My friends amp keeps cutting off. Its been hooked up for a while and it just started acting up. the amp goes green, then it turns orange, then turns red (protection). whats the orange?
  8. ok, ill have to tell the man the bad news, you would think that alpine wouldve made that amp stable into 1- ohm being a class d amp! i was siked to hear how it was going to sound too! oh well, to the next project!! thankx fellas for the help. i ll ask him if he wants to sell the stuff. maybe someone on here is looking for some stuff
  9. you guys make it sound so simple. lol!! nope, he cant exchange them, he bought everything in one bundle from someone off the streets on a good deal? any options? can i just hook the one sub up and will it blow from the 800 watts?
  10. yeah i believe its only 2-ohm stable, just needed a second opinion. and i know he doesnt want to live with a measly 250 watts a sub!! you think if i put just one 12 on it and get it to 2ohms, will the 800 watts blow the sub up? its only rated at 400 watts. or did he just blow his cash on false hopes?
  11. Hey SMD! Got a question. Im helping to put in a moddest system in my neighbors car which consists of just a pioneer cd player, amp and subs. He has two Pioneer Premier Champion series 12's which are rated at 4-ohm DVC each at 400-rms each and he has an Alpine MRP-M850 amp which is rated at 800-watts 2-ohm and 500 watts 4-ohm. How can i wire these babies up to get that 800 watts or will he have waisted money and have to get another amp? Please help!!!
  12. Its good to see young men and women try to learn good things in life rather then spend their time on video games!! Wish I was looking for the same questions you are when i was your age. Well, if you must get one now, try to get a credit card with low interest fees and rates, try to keep your balance low and dont live off just paying the minimum payment because you can really get in over your head and you could ruin your credit early!! And dont get too involved in having more than one credit card. Take baby steps. Try talking to your bank on these things and compare with other banks fees and rates and you should come up with something to your liking, but remember, just because you might get approved for a $5000 credit limit doesnt mean you should get it!!!! Keep it to a minimum!!!
  13. Its a known fact, that if a reputable dealer sends or sells a defective product, they should and do in good faith replace the defective part free of charge, you just send the defective part back. Example, i bought a Blue Ray DVD player that stopped playing, i called the company and they sent me out a brand new one from the company with paid shipping on the return of the defective one. Its not car audio but it just gives you an idea on where im going with this.
  14. Sometimes even if its brand new, it can be defective. So, if your brand new speaker has a crack, it mightve got past inspection and wound up in your door!
  15. Sorry fellas, but, liar, im not. I know quite a few guys with all these speakers on a 2-ch amp! I guess thats how they do it here in cleveland, i just wanted to make sure its safe to do so. Me personally dont want that many, but i want to get as many as i can without having to put a kazzillion amps in my car to do so. Im starting a new sysyem since mine got stolen and just want some ideas! Thanks for all your input!!!
  16. Its crazy, i mean, if its so dangerous for that many speakers on a 2-ch amp, im curious is to why our shops down here and everybody down here pretty much, put an ass load of door speakers. I mean, i seen one guy have 24 5 1/4's running off a 1000 watt 2-ch amp and have no problems!! Thats what im trying to do, so if anyone knows how to do this, ppplllleeeeaaasssee, let me know!!
  17. So, in theory, if i had 12-6 1/2' s rated at 4-ohms, running off an 800 amp 2-ch amp, this will make about 66 watts to each 6 1/2 right? How would i wire them? In parellel? Also, if this isnt the most effective way of doing this, what is, especially budget wise?
  18. Ok fellas, im starting over. Got a noob question. I see alot of cars, especially in my neighborhood(cleveland, ohio), with like 12 speakers ( for like 6 inch mids) in each door running off a 2 ch amp. My question is, is it safe to run these many speakers off a 2-ch amp? And if it is, whats the limit for lets say, a 800 watt 2 ch amp?
