If your buddy does all your installs, then he should be experienced enough to do a basic big "3". Its very simple to do. Use the search button on this site and it explains in high detail on how to do it. Its a piece of cake!! That will help ALOT on on your dimming and you will waste your time on caps!! IMO!

after bracing and the space the sub take up, you are looking from 4.5-5.0 cubes. depends what kind of bracing you use, i personally like wooden dowel rods.
Thanks for the input hotshot!!! So in theory the best thing to do is make the box just a tad bit bigger to compensate for the bracing!! Gotcha!!
-
Ha ha ha!! Thats funny as shit!!! LMFAO!!
-
put this in the re calculator
W 40''
D 19''
H 17''
Port width 4''
port piece 2 length 4''
came to 32hz at 5.1 cubes before displacement and bracing
Thanks for the input, u say BEFORE displacement, since im new at the box building thing please bear with me, once i put it together and have bracing, wouldnt that bring the cubes down? is that ok? do i need to make the box bigger? im still a noob on some things!!
-
take the square port area and divide it by the cubic feet of the box (ft3). and it should be between 12 and 16. if its under 12, make the width of the port bigger, if over 16, do the opposite
Thanks alot!!!

Nice radio dude, but did i look at this right? " 6-ch preouts- 5 volt front and rear, 2-volt sub" Is that normal? Im looking for a new hu but i want something with even voltage on the rca's. are there any highs and lows on that? im just used to looking at all radios with all the same voltage

Ok, look guys, all im trying to do is find out the correct way to get the right box dimensions. If someone can show me how to do it, great. If someone can design a box for me, even better! Again, im just trying to have a foundation to get started on something new! I want alot of bass but all i can afford is 2- Fi Q12's. I looked at the AQ's but figured the Fi's would be better. Also, the amp i want to push them with is a AQ2200
-
Im trying to figure out how to get the best box i need to match the recommended tuning for the Fi Q 12,s and im stuck on the part that says "12-16 inches of port per cubic feet of volume" How do i calculate all that to get the right measurements of the box.

So, of ALL the members here, cant noone help? Daily bump for a guy in need!!

Ok, income tax is just around the corner and new money will be coming in!! After alot of research and blowing up a pair of RE subs im turning to FI!! I am very interested in two of the FI Q12 D1 subs. Cant afford the BTL's!! Anyway, the site suggests a ported box tuned to 32 hz and 2.5 cubes per sub. I am trying to use the RE calculator for 2 subs so i can get the cut sheet and build the box. How do i calculate? I also dont understand the square port part. IThe box is going in an 86 Monte Carlo SS and i have about 40"Wx19"DX17"H to work with. Oh, the amp will be an AQ2200D
-
Yeah, thats definately the starter motor!

Have you taken your ass to the damn doctor? You know you can die from that shit!! I hate to see people sucumb to that shit. Thats some heavy sickness man and i had a pal die recently!!

Does this site come in english? WTF?

If they're both working then you could have burnt a tinsel on one or both woofers.
Also, if you burnt one there is a chance that now its working like a "passive radiator" and still looks like its working but isnt.
-Drew
Thanks for the input, but now they are out completely!
-
Well, i unhooked them from the amp so i wont screw THAT up!! On my way up to the hospital to see my buddy. When i get back, if i have enough time ill take the box apart and take some pics. But, they finally stopped playing when i went to unhook them, i guess i thought maybe if i was ina bad dream, i could wake up! NOT!!! These things smell like ASS!! Nomore RE subs, Im going to try the AQ's !!!! I like their direct wire hookups!! No tinsel slap!!! Thanks guys, i appreciate it alot, and im throwing away that damn bass knob!!
-
for a tinsil to slap against a spider and it catch fire it doesnt have to be clipping to do so, ive seen a couple other RE subs catch fire the same way, xxx, and sx
So these brand subs are prone for catching on fire or it just case by case? I invested alot of time, energy and MONEY on this and i would hate to do it all over again unless i really have to, but since im not bumping nomore, and i dont want to buy any more RE subs, whats a good buy for like 400- 500 bucks on 2-12's on my amp?
-
he can still get the full power out of the amp he will just have to wire down to 1/2 ohm which will void his warenty
Exactamundo!!
-
X2
Doesn't mean they weren't clipping. Unless you used an Oscope to check 'em...
Yeah, they were checked with an Oscope, but, i was just reading another thread about using and not using the remote knob, and yes, i was using a knob, and i didnt put it in til recently. Could that have something to do with it? Oh, btw, they are still playing, just the bass is not as deep as they were, they sound like some 10's on like 400 watts now
-
clip, clip, clippy clip..........
My gains WERE properly matched and like i said, i was only beating for like 10 minutes!! First, i was listening to Project Pat, the next i was running from my car like a crack head!! LOL!! Do they just burn up like that or what else couldve happened? Could i have been just been beatin too loud? What gives?
-
It wouldve been better if he had Dual 1's instead of the D2's! That way he can get the full power out of that 3500!!
-
Burnt a Coil, Tinsel, or caught the damn spider on fire! pull it out and get pix
-Drew
I can pull it out this evening when i come from the hospital visiting a friend and take some pics. But, why after all this time, it burns up? im not running that much power, and everything wes wired PERFECT! I mean checked, rechecked, and doublechecked again!! I just went out there and ive been home for like 30 minutes and its STILL smoking!! My car smells like an electrical fire!!
-
Major problem here!! Today on my way home from work, i smell something burning, i pull over and i thought my trunk was on fire. I open the trunk and smoke is everywhere!! My music was playin full tilt for about 10 minutes, i ve been playing it at full tilt WAY longer than this before. All the smoke is coming from my box, so i know its the speakers!! Im running whats in my sig!! Whats wrong?
-
Ok i need 2 things now can anyone point me in the direction of a amp that will push 1200 watts rms at the Ohm spec for those Aq subs? also can someone make me a box design ?
Audioque has a GREAT amp called the AQ1200D, it puts out a little over 1200 and right now they're only $229!!!! Its stable down to 1 ohm and puts out clean power!! My buddy just ordered him one!!
