  1. Ha Ha Ha ..i think I have been looking at the same Alpine. I agree with the $$ spending. yeah to me there just seems to be so many little things that can go wrong with the flipouts. Dunno how much actually do go wrong with them, but I just cant make myself risk it. Especially buying online when it seems dificult to get the warranty honored sometimes.
  2. never heard of 'em. doesnt look like a bad unit. personally I do not really like the flip out screens. personal opinion though.
  3. well..I have a 2006 Grand prix...and I can just barely fit my 13.5s in there. The Max Height for my box is maybe a hair over 16". I really think you would have a hard time with the 2 15s....ya know ..maybe a Fiberglass box would help...but it still might be tough and EXPENSIVE hey before you just go to 12s look at the JL 13W3's they are really nice..I just sold my 2 to get a 13W7
  4. would it be better to put the Cap on just the mids and HIghs amp, or leave it to both?
  5. If I was allowed to have a second battery...I would have one alreadybut I can not have a second battery and still compete in the rookie class. thanks for the input guys....
  6. and I meant 2010...Ha Ha Ha oops Yeah, I am competeing in the rookie class of IDBL and I can only have one battery... so until I move out of rookie class I can have only one battery.
  7. in 9 months I will get a HC1800 maybe HC1400....well in thinking on the future i might just get a 2400...who knows
  8. no burps.....playing music...daily and comp. I can probably find a cap for under 100 I think. Internet is wonderful sometimes.
  9. awesome...would it be a good idea for me to upgrade to a 5 f cap... while I am in the rookie class still?
  10. Yeah...I am trading a jl 500 to get a diablo audio hellfire 1000... the cap seemed to help with the 500 amp but just did not know if it would help with the 1000. I do plan on getting another battery after SB nationals 2009. Rookie class competitors can only have one battery.
  11. since I am working my amp rack to make room for the hellfire 1000. I have a question about using a capacitor. I have a 2 f cap with my current setup. I am going to get a second battery whenever I get out of the rookie class, but until then...... SHould I hook the cap back up to the new amp or should I not. I have a yellow top battery up front and my car has a factory 130-140 amp alt. I have 0 Awg wire for power and on the "big 3". Thanks
  12. ha ha ha..yeah i was thinking that....i think the diablo hellfire 1000 will be a nice match. of those 2 i just looked at the test results in this forum abou tit.. can produce 2000 rms...hmm...nice
  13. very true....and the answer to most of the furture question would be...NO...maybe the 2kD, but that might be a bit much power for the surrent sub. and maybe just under the optimum for the future...but unsure what subs I will have in the future. this is my daily driving car..so not sure how much more I would really want to put into it at thiis point.
  14. fair enough I did check out this link.... http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...?showtopic=9398 should give a good idea, though right?
  15. any idea what the output would be at .75 ohm. So this amp would be comfortable at .75...so the output should be a little more than 1000 then? sorry first time I saw sundown was at SB nationals this past march. and well made me want to get to compete. i have had JL audio equipment for a while. and I was either going to get the jl 1000, the saz 1000, or stetsom 1k4D 2 ohm or 1k6D 2 ohm.i can not decide but i seem to not be able to find the stetsom anywhere.
  16. I have a 1.5 ohm dual voice coil Sub...that is 500-1500 watts rms... jl 13W7... any way. can the SAZ-1000D run at .75 ohm. I still have factory...ummm...everything...well yellow top optimum battery, and 0 gauge wires. I am competeing in the Rookie class so I can not really upgrade anything else. thanks
  17. anyone have any opinions of exile audio (1500.1) or diablo audio hellfire 1000.1 (if stable at .75 ohm) so many amps to choose from....I have all JL in my car...I like them but they are expensive and I could do so much more with stuff with out the big name. to bad i found this out late. oh well.
  18. I think the 2k might be a little much....but what kind of price are you thinking so tthat I may think on it for a bit
  19. i will take that as nothing bad against Stetsom....Awesome...
  20. I am looking to replace my JL 500/1 because I got a new sub that wants more power. I was thinking about getting a stetsom 1k2, 1k4, 1k6, or maybe the 2k. the sub is a dual 1.5 Ohm with RMS of 1000 watts. I might get a second sub in the not so near future. any suggestions?
  21. no sorry no video ride now...but I could try to get one soon.... Crap...sorry....forgot to record a video and changed out my box already. Went to one sub ported...Dunno but the one sub ported might be a tad bit louder than the two sealed but it is also getting the full 500 watts on it..so yeah...sorry
  22. yes they are loud....I am unsure how loud. because the meter I have only goes to 126 and I could max that at half volume even with some metal music. they would probably be louder if I had more power going to them..I only have the JL 500/1 on the 2.
  23. I have 2 jl audio w3 13.5's in a double chambered sealed box filled with poly fill (i think a bag per chamber, maybe a touch more)in my 2006 grand prix GXP. The external Dim. of my box are 27" wide, about 13" deep and about 16.25" tall. A little smaller then the spec sealed volume but it sounds great. hits 25 Hz nicely. granted I am wanting to play with designing some ported boxes also now. just change up the dimensions a little to fit in your space give you ateast close to the 1.75 ft3 and it hits pretty tight. hardly any delay in the kick drums...isnt that pretty much what a custom box is about. oh and I used 3/4 MDF.
