damn what kinda subs r u running?
ive seen setups where subs damn near touch the roof and do ok...im not sure if it matters in a truck or not tho...
i'm running 2 12" solo x by kicker.....
-
ok, 2006 dodge magnum station wagon, subs up, port back....
is there a certain distance the subs should be from the roof?? i'm being told that my subs are to close to the roof...
the subs are 8.25 inches from the roof.....
-
The Solo X is a great sub.. i love watching them go boom.. with coils tangling everywhere
hey now.....be nice....LOL
-
i dont think. sumone on here said once that theyll blow up if more than 2000 is used on daily setup
well they are rated for 2500 wrms, but I'm not sure about daily. I had 1 in a 6 cubic ft box and ran it at 1 ohm for about a month, no probs........
N.S. eh? where u at?
-
here this is from the site and if you use this youll only be underpowering them by a couple hundred watts
3 ft3 (85.0L) + port displacement, Fb=40Hz
Port: 45 in2 (290cm2) area x 18.75” (47.6cm) long
Power Handling = 1400W Peak
now, I was thinking about doing that....but would 1 sub at 1ohm with 2600wrms be louder(higher spl) than 2 subs at 2ohm with 1200-1300 each...???...
-
this is startin to get harder and harder..... :censored: :censored:
Should I only run 1 sub then at 1ohm, i would be able to put 2600wrms to it, would that be louder(higher spl) than 2 at 2ohms with 1200-1300 to each?
-
ok, I have 2 kicker 12" solo x subs, and the kicker website says for best results in the lows and most power handling I should have each sub in a 6 cubic ft box, so I have my 2 12's in a 12 cubic ft box.
I am running both subs at 2ohms off of a kx2500.1. the amp is 2600wrms at 14.4. so lets say each sub is getting 1200-1300 wrms....
where i am not giving the subs what they recommend, should I make the box smaller due to the lack of power going to the subs??
subs are 2500wrms a piece...

nice score man hope you figure out your problems
TKS!!!!!!! I didn't think it was that bad, I was hoping for about 2 more db's, but maybe that will come after i fix these problems.
thanks for the positive!!!!
-
thanks, after reading that, I dont think i will use my eq for my subs.....I will use the 4.0 volt preouts on the deck.
-
ok, I think someone needs to tell me exactly what clipping is.....
-
no offense but if your box split then it wasn't built nearly good enough, and you are probably clipping to shit at 40 if you hit higher at 24 then 40....looks like you have a lot of problems to work out there...
I never clipped at 40, it just sounded like crap, when I turned the volume down to 24, it hit higher, so then I turned my gain up while still at volume 24 and then I clipped. I think it sounded better at 24 because my amp was getting more than the recommended amount of signal volts.
My box is an experimental box, i dont think it is crap, it just wasn't held together properly, or i had to much pressure in the box. we built it using 1.5" griping brad nails, just to try it. we used 2000 of them, plus we used liquid nails and we used fiber glass resin... I just think the brad nails were a bad idea, but the guy said it would work......
-
set your gains correctly and you wont have any issues.
I'm using a bass knob.......can someone tell me how to set my gains...i sort of remember, something about the square root of my watts....or something like that....
-
its more then likely giving you a clipped signal. you dont have to use full volume. ur feeding 9.5 volts into ur amps?? that doesnt seem very safe. Can your amps handle 9v inputs???
I'm looking that up right now, I think they can only handle 5v......I know I dont have to use full volume, and I wasn't on the eq, it was more of a testing issue, trying to find the sweet spots.
-
sooooooooooooooooooo, I metered today, and as I was pounding away, my box split, and it sounded like a set of drums in my trunk at full tilt.....
I hit 144.6 before the box broke apart........
everyone that has told me to burp, says to max out volume and use pause button, well i did that, and it sounded like crap, hit only 138. I turned the volume down to 24 out of 40, and it hit 144.6 before breaking the box..
I am using an audiocontrol four.1 eq with 9.5 volts rms, is this maybe why it sounded like crap at the higher volume?? should I disconnect the eq and use full volume?? HU has 4.0 volt pre outs...
-
I think its the amp then because it stays connected 24/7 and its a kicker amp so yeah.,,,
???? what does "and its a kicker amp so yeah" have to do with it?
why would you even try to hook your amp directly to the alt??
-
I have run 2 12's that were 400wrms a piece and 1000wrms amp, stock electrical with no problems. all that on a 70 amp honda alt.
-
there is a big difference in using batts that were designed to be fast discharge. Kinetik Batteries are prolly the most used in car audio. I have run them for 4 years now and wouldnt use anything else (maybe powermaster, but xtra $$$). The optima is not a bad battery, but the kinetik is much better. depending on what vehicle you have, i would buy a kinetik that fits under your hood properly, and a 2400 for the trunk, run 0 gauge to connect them. Also look into a high output alternator, i have always used ohio generator, but there are many good brands out there.
I have a dodge magnum, and I replaced the stock batt with a yellow top optima (D31A) and was looking to use kinetik for just the amp...kinda sounds like this is what I should do....
-
yeah i personally like kenetik alot but if you are intrested in getting a new kenetik 2400 i could sell it to you for $250 plus shipping
what about a po box in maine....would that work?
-
yes, with a proper alt and front bat, i believe a single 2400 will work. But I would upgrade to an HO alt asap if i was you. Just to get that extra power so not as much stress on batt. what amp are we talking about also?
Bills
I am running a kicker kx2500.1 at 2ohms

I would except I live in canada, so duty and shipping would be lots of $$$
-
id go with kinetik, cause i am going with them and love the performance they have
do you think an hc2400 would handle my 2600 watts? i can pick a used one up for like $200. never used in a car, they had it as a back up at a cottage....????....!!!???
-
How big is your alternator?
stock 140 amp....
-
Yes. Either that or a Powermaster. Those G34 Optima batteries are almost completely worthless in car audio.
my optima is a D31A....meant for car audio....
-
ok, I replaced my stock batt with a D31A yellow top optima, but i am being told that a battery cannot discharge the amount of power i need as fast as i will need it....
i am running 2600wrms, and i was going to just get another D31A, but should i get a kinetik batt for my amp?
question about sub distance...

ya, I was thinking that i might be choking them, just wanted to make sure I'm not....
