  1. talk to Rob at DCpower, though he hasn't been around I don't think. Or Dominick Iraggi.

I personally wouldn't recommend Iraggi. Every single time I've ever contacted him, it takes about a week to get a response. I contacted him when I was shopping for a HO Alt & he took way too long to answer simple questions. Due to this, I didn't buy from him. I don't have time for that.

I've never dealt w/ DC, but I've heard good things.

Ohio Gen. good but pricey. Customer service isn't the best.

MechMan is ok & recommended. He gets back to you pretty quick. Thats what I'm running now. However, just about everyone I know personally with one has had to modify something to make them work, including myself.

My 2nd alt, which I'll be ordering soon, will be from Excessive.

  2. how would it not be, hell id have insane idle output if that was my ratio

Ok. Think about it. For example...

If your car is idled at a 1000rpm, at 3.2x's faster would put the alt at 3200rpm.

Same car idle of 1000rpm, at 3.7x's would put the alt at 3700rpm.

At this rpm, thats only a difference of 500rpm at the alt. With my alt from MechMan thats only ups the amps to about 175 from 160ish. Thats far from "insane". However, if a smaller pulley was offered that'd work, I'd buy it b/c I like every inch I can get. I'm just sayin thats not very impressive if that truely is the difference. Thats why I asked for clarification...

  3. Your crank pulley should be about 6.5" in diameter. Our ultra over drive pulley is 1.75" in diameter. 6.5 / 1.75 = 3.71:1 ratio. The only thing to remember, is that you might run into belt slip issues running a pulley that small on a 250+ amp alternator. The decreased surface area, and increased gearing makes it harder for the belt to grip an alternator that strong. You will need to run a slightly smaller premium serp. belt, and keep an eye on it to make sure that it isn't slipping under full load.

Got cha, but I meant was, if the pulley supplied turns the alt 3.2x's faster than the engine, what would the smaller pulley turn the alt compared to the engine?

  4. sorry for being so ruuude.. but you should probably hit yourself in the head for asking a question like that with out going through the forum first.. a couple of people have asked this before and they got pretty much the same answer.

so yea my bad for being so rude..

    Got cha. No problem..

  5. I just wanna see what you guys "think" I should be hitting w/ my setup. Its never been on an actual meter but I would like to know when I do, if I'm in the range where it should be. My basic system details are below. If I've left anything off, please ask. Thanks!
