so my trucks got this ugly blue interior. im planning on doing a black seude headlining and also wanna paint my dash and all the plastics blue. pretty much im gonna redo the whole interior in like a black and gray. but onto my question if im gonna be paintin the dash black i wanna go with a gloss but if i make it gloss and i gonna have to worry bout blindin myself or passengers? anyone have issues like that? would a satin finish be better?

well a way that u may not wanna try but to get displacement u can get a tub with water deep enough for the sub and measure the amount of water inside the tub then drop the sub into it and measure how much the water rose to get the displacement. but really if i didnt know it really measure the magnet cause i would think that would take up the most displacement. 3.14 X radius squared X the height of the magnet. u still would have to get the displacement of the basket but this should get u closer.
-
ok to clarify to everyone. i would like to do 2 10s and according to fi i have the cubic ft for them. now does anyone have a clue on that magnet's outside diameter and how many inches deep the thickest part of it is b4 it tapers?
-
thats one of the factory 6x9s
-
im gonna go get a pic of the space. its dirty right now cause it was given to me by family as a project and dog hair is seemingly impossibly to remove from the underside of the bench.
-
In alpines defense Fi only recommends 2.-.5 I'm just going more off of trying to fit it under a seat causing issues with more then one
i was actually going off what fi recommends so thats why i thought 2 10s would be good. even tho it does seem fairy small of a space.

6 1/2 inches
edit here you can look everything up here
reading is fun
totally missed the mounting depth on there. haha. it looks like that motor is what maybe 8-9 inches. under my bench it tapers up from bout 11inches to 6 inches tall and the taper is bout 9 inches long after that its a slow taper down to 3 inches and its total 17inch deep. im sure i could make it fit itll be tight but even if i gotta make the box stick out a lil w/e. plus the seat is soft so i can make stuff fit with a lil force. haha.
-
I know the size of the motor on those damn things and I'm guessing he is squeezing these under a bench seat. So without dimensions and just gross volume its not that easy to say what space is actually there to use
just thought bout that. how long is the sub actually cause i know its gonna have a nice size magnet and that might not fit unless i make it stick out the seat more. ill get some dimensions now
-
if thats the case then ill be fine with it i just wanna squeeze as much bass outta the space i got. and also are there better options for subs? and by just doing one 10 am i gonna be dissapointed with the sound of it?
-
first off i love to bump. but i also love the truck i got right now. i wanna keep the rear bench seat also. so my plan is to do a build that will be loud but also compact. now i measured it out and ive got around 1.2 cubic feet under the bench seat to work with i would like to do 2 10s. i dont plan on burping at all. now i planned on goin with making sealed enclosures for them but would i be better off with a ported. if i have to im sure i could maybe get 1.5 cube out of it if i really make the box fit perfectly. also would i maybe be better off with going with a different series. i would still be stuck with only 10s tho cause thats all the bigger the gap is gonna allow. my main goal for this is to make it louder or as loud as wen i had my 4 fosgate p1 12s running in a jeep. any help is appreciated.

Yeah, def. sounds like a problem in the HU. I have seen lost of people say that Pioneer is bad for that. I have had 2 different Pioneer HUs and no problems for me. Luck of the draw I guess.
Not sure if that would be cost effective to send in for repair.
ok.
-
Sounds like maybe a ground-loop problem in the HU. There is a thread on how to fix it. Seems pretty easy if it works.
i can plug my ipod into it tho and it sounds fine. so i was thinkin it was with the outputs
-
Is this testing in or out of a vehicle?
Where are your RCAs in relation to the power wire?
its inside my jeep and they arent near any power wires.
-
last night i was testing some older amps i think they are lrom the later 80s . they r from my dads old system. i was testing an old proton amp i wired every thing up wen i started playing music the bass was super weak almost not even there so i messed with the gains and and they didnt do much. the was also a slight burning smell but i couldnt figured out where it was coming from it wasnt near the amp so i unplugged the battery and disconnected the amp. then i installed my other amp that i know works fine its also an older amp its a pyramid rated at 600 bridged max. when i connected it and turned it the music hadnt even started the reciever was just turned on the subs had like a pulse they would beat like twice a second and they were moving about 3/4" wen they would do the pulse thing. so i diconnected the batt again. then i got my dads old alpine amp idk wat its rated but its an alpine 3552. i hooked it up and the same thing happened. i was using the alpine amp earlier in the day testing it and it was fine. i have an rca adapter for my ipod so i hooked that up to the amp and it played fine. the problem is i just dont have any mids and highs. so today i tried using the other output on the reciver. its a full range output and it works fine but i cant adjust the bass. wen i turn the bass up on the eq it makes my mids and highs sound bad and really distorts on them. i need the other output for my subs i just dont know wat to do to fix it.

idk anything bout hotrods but GAWD DAMN!
i like ur avatar! who is it?
i got it from a girl i know on myspace.
-
spray paint will work, don't use primer though, it's not water proof. make sure it is paint, and try and find semi gloss...it'll look alot better.
ok thanks
-
hot rods usually use a semi gloss paint, flat black almost always looks rattle canned
could i just use spray paint. i need to do alot of body work theres a lot of rust spots. so i wanna do sometin thats as cheap as possible but also looks nice and will last a couple of years. will spray paint work? or will it rust?
-
im wonderin about how much it would cost to buy hot rod flat black paint to paint my car. i have an uncle that owns all the stuff you need to paint a car but the paint that i want. i need to paint an 84 jeep wagoneer. if anyone can help thanks.
-
its out of phase because the sound waves are not perfectly alligned, which is what you need for a Tline
oh. ok.
-
i dont really understand how that could go out of phase but i know that 4 my tline box im gonna use the 15s.
-
Wow so ur 14 already, bassheads just getting younger and younger
yes we are. haha. i love bass.
-
and i gotta get off for a bit, computer needs to be charged.
ok. i wanna try to make one. haha. and im out of money anyways im turning 15 in a couple months and this is gonna b my first car it was my moms old car im gettin it freeand its been sitting outside of my dads shop 4 about 10 years so it needs a lot of work put into it. im gonna have to put about $1000 into it just to make it street legal. its an 84 wagoneer, it needs a lot of body work theres a bunch rust spots and i wanna give it a new paintjob and its gonna need some new interior cause the old stuff its like a worn burgundy color and it doesnt look very good. its a huge project. and im wondering wat u mean about them bein aligned? so i cant put them in a square shape? i no i dont have enough room to have the aligned so im gonna have to use the 15s.
-
havent built it. Not sure im going to. From my understanding it takes quite a bit to do a hairtrick. I may build it for shits and giggles. But i may be selling my current setup to get an 18 and a new amp
ok. cause thats one of the things im goin 4. thats why i want so many subs. haha
-
none, a t=line is all port. Otherwise youll just have a big ass ported box. A tline for 4 12s or 2 15s will be huge. The one i designed for my 2 12s was gigantic, so im just gunna go with a single 18.
just wonderin r u able to do a hairtrick with that?

i think the cummins have higher output alts anyways. i may be mistaken but im pretty sure they do. it may not be by much tho but i remember reading it somewhere. if anything the high output alt would be for the intake heater grid thats only when its like below 50 degrees tho. i think they can draw over 100 amps. plus your fuel system will also draw power too. so the high output alt from the factory seems like it might be true.
