  1. you really souldnt tap in to the factor input to the fuse box by doin so u will rob power from your car to power the amp or the amp will rob ur cars computers of power causein major issues with e the pcm and fuel injection system...i have seen guys ruin there cars by doin this...i would get the rest of the wire and use a in line fuse or distbtoin block and add the wire you need to hit the positive post on the batt ...i think ur main issues is where you have ur power lead to the amp myself...i could be wrong

  2. it sounds like ur talking about sundown...the main reason u can over power those is they are built VERY WELL and underrated ...like the guy above me said it has alot to do with using clean power..if you send it clipped/dirty power its gonna fry the sub no matter what its power rating is...anther key is your box size and design...i my self know a lil about overpowering subs safely but its truly never a good idea unless its a sundown or another well built sub...other than that some1 who knows more should step in and explain whatever i missed

also i think u need a smaller encloser to use more power

  3. 1 common port wall. Measure down the dead center.

top of box 1 wall back of box 2nd shared wall 2 shared walls

The port has 4 sides. Only 1 of those sides is also a wall of the box. Please don't argue this.

no worries i may be wrong... it was my 2 cents. i have only done a few box's myself im no pro ;)

  4. ill let someone else chime in on the rest of it as i am not 100% sure on it but from the looks of it you maybe should have 3 common port walls? looks like port is in contact with 3 walls of the box if im interpreting the picture correctly

it would be 2 shared walls and he need to put 14.92 in the desired net volume to get the correct tuning

  5. I just finished my wall and I am fairly happy with it except for one thing. With the car doors open it is pretty loud (haven't metered yet.) but with the doors shut it is substantially quieter. If I were to guesstimate I would say between 5-7 db difference. My dash and everything in the car shakes with the doors open but sealed not too much is going on. I know that it has to do with frequency and box design. But how can I retain the pressure with the doors shut?

i to just built my first wall and my truck sounds way louder open than sealed(not that my truck seals very well right now:( )and i had it on termlab it sounds and looks like a db or 2 but i would bet its in the tenths i hit a 147.7 open and 147.5 sealed (i dont have enough power to get better #s yet) but i dont know how big ur car is or where u have ur wall mine is at the C pillar because i dont like subs in my ear while driving and to make me do better sealed ;) get it on a termlab and see what it does ..and like every1 else said its trail & error till u get it right theres no quick fix unless u goto a serous PRO ....G.L

  6. i have a hfi2500.1 and it does NOT do rated power i posted a thread about it a few month ago and it is very power hungry & mine did 1499 watts@14 volts ...thats the only bad i have found...it has been running @.7 ohm for almost a month and never gets super hot or turns off(unless i have messed with the gains and it clips) it sounds very clear no distortion if properly tuned & the price is not all that bad for what it will do...now i did clamp it again and got a lil over 2k @.7 oh on 13.7 volts so i would say if u want 2k or more and want a hfi get the 3000.1 or 2500.1 the hfi2 will probably only do 1200 watts @1 ohm but if u want rated and not as big of a price get a brz or bxi brutus series and ull get that power it claims G.L

  7. Id still like some one to chime in with a price range hoping one of you shop owners/employees would have an idea

it all depends on the shop owner i have a guy that does my box's when i dont feel like doin my own and he use's birch and will glass the inside of the box and carpet it my last box for 2 sa 12"s cost me 200 ...it all depends on how nice u want it and whow long it will take...resin is only $39 a gallon its @$6 for the matting + wood and time

  8. i useally turn mine 3/4 of the way up then tune my amp....but i am not 1 to turn my stuff all the way up :pardon: i have never had a issue doing this and have even got excited and cranked it all the way up and it was fine...def wanna have that thing hooked up when u set ur gains tho

  9. sundown is always a good choice

thats what i keep hearing, ive never heard or seen any in person so im excited to see what they will do

i had a set of sa12"S and wish i would kept em they did 145s on music on 1500rms and stayed stiff no matter what u therw at em or how hard u beat em...i have owned alot of subs and these are the only ones i was NOT afraid of hurting with to much power...they now are on a audipipe 3k doin 148s and the kid has no clue what the has or is doing...lol very good sound and and very durable subs ...u wont regret getting them...i know i didnt

  10. I'm not gonna gang up on Mechman as my issues are really at idle, on my low power at 1k rpm and up I'm getting 14.6-14.9v ... Soon as I get to 700 on dash it drops to 13.6-12.7-12.3-12.2 .... Apparently my car sucks???

hmmm sound like my 200 amp universal mechman i had to send back and PAY to have fixed...

    Were you the original owner?

If not you are not covered under warranty.

When I had an issue with mine they fixed it within 1 business day and was all covered under warranty

bought it brand new from matt @ mechamn was told i used the wrong ring termal on my power lead from the alt.... :bull: i paid for the repair and bought a 0 gauge power wire from them ...hopefully it was my fault ora fluke and i will have no more issues ...sad thing is my stock 70 amp alt ahs took its place for the last 2 month and is holding like a champ.. the mechman lasted 2 months:pardon:
