  1. Assuming your numbers are right when calculating wedge and rectangle boxes it came out great IMO.

You took the information givin and formed it into something tangible based off your last box and it worked out fine.

    NOW,

Lesson #2 that you need to pick up about box design is alignment and phase. IF you rebuild put all 6 woofers on top as far forward as possible with a common chamber and one big common port either shooting back or up in the very back of the box. You should see significant gains and still be able to follow specs givin to you by JL or use specs from one of the many successful box designers here on the forum.

theres a couple of reasons why i did the box the way i did. one is i only wanted two subs per chamber, two i really like the look of the four up and two back. i know the phaseing is gonna be a little out. now the reason for two subs per chamber is, if i blow one i'll un power that chamber and still have two chambers working. and the other reason is money. right now i only have two sub amps. and the way its looking i aint gonna have the money for the third amp for quite a while. i have a 1000/ and a 500/1. i'm gonna run four subs off of the 1000/1 and two off of the 500/1. yea i do know that there gonna be underpowerd. but the box will be right and all i have to do is add the third amp when i get it.
  2. harbor freight sales a pair. something like forty bucks. there almost identical to the kliens. i've had mine for about two years and they havent let me down yet. i would highly recomend them to anybody. i wouldnt use them on a daily basics but for a hobby there great.

  3. 40^2in for 3 cubic foot doesn't seem like enough port area? :01nocomment8so: dunno man. this is only my second attempt at building a ported box. the first one sounded great and i got all my measurements from jl audio from there tech support on the first one. thats why i turned to them on this box build. after three phone calls and me getting pissed at him. i think i have the proper dimensions now for it to work. 40 cubic inches for both subs and he was very persistant on it being 30''s long and that is suppose to tune it to 32hz

    design fail

    I've done it 400 times

  4. need some help. this box i'm building i got the ports made for two chambers but i'm having problems with the third one. i called jl again today and he told 40 sqare inches is what 2 12w6's require. but he is very insistant on it being 30''s long. but i can not get it to fit in my third chamber. my third chamber is a wedge type. with the dimensions he gave me with the port in there i will not be able to fit both subs. any help on this please.made some progress on it today. still a long way to go with it Photo0095.jpgPhoto0096.jpg

  5. No offense bro, but that almost looks like an abortion. If I understand this right, your mixing 2 different versions of JL's in a box that was made for 4, but you cut 2 more holes into it, to fit 2 more.....Holy Jesus....
that box was made for 6 subs just not the w6's. that is the reason i'm building a new box.
  6. i'm in the middle of building my box. i have 6 jlw6v2's that i'm putting in a three chamber ported box. each chamber will have two sub's and its own port. i called jl audio today to get help on my port. they told me that it has to be 30.5'' inches long. i dont want it to be that long. and also how good do they sound in the jl recomend box size and port size
