  1. havent built the box yet... finally got my garage situated and am making my car even lower gonna sound deaden it.. and then its on. gonna be dong and in the car build.... whooo whoooo

Give those DC 18's all the cubes you can fit. I have mine at 7cubes per sub and they bounce. What kind of car are you putting the subs in?

  2. I had in about 3.5 - 3.8 cubes after displacement tuned to 32 hz.. or close to there. :D I mean, it plays fine at high volume and all but shitty at low. And its very stiff. I push on the dustcap and it barely moves back up. It sounds like something is grinding/rubbing against where the coils are.

Been there done that. Good ole fashion coil rub. Recone time.

    1. Order Kit

    2. Receive Kit and give UPS guy a high five.

    3. Get some beer and bring a few buddies over. 1 that can video

    4. Find a electrical socket and have some fun.

4a. Or if you really want to see some action get a hold of the biggest damn amp you can borrow and have a disco party at full blast. (just add chicks)

    5. Drink too much and puke in your neighbors trash can.

  3. Alright guys been reading differents thread on both of these for amp choices. But i'm getting ready to start my build hopefully soon... so i am wondering about amps.. im looking at either 2 hifonics1600s or 1 audiopipe 3000. so which do you guys prefer... blah blah blah...let me hear it

Both will give you solid power for a great price. My Hifonics has my 18's knockin pretty good. Then again you can get the AP3000 for 300.00 apiece.

Depends on what your powering and in what. Take some measurements and find out which choice would fit best where you want the amp rack. Shaped way different.

One thing to think about also is wiring. You will have a pretty simple setup with only a mid/tweet amp and bass amp.

Either way you can't go wrong and you know what they say about that kind of a deal.... It's just like a sore dick, you just can't beat it.

  4. I'm just tossing around ideas. What about a DC lvl5, (3) x1001 and a maxxlink? I have another x1001 sitting around but, I think I'll just the 2, one amp per coil.

Depending on your budget is what it comes down too.

2K on 1 sub will pretty much pound anything. Make that box big using the SPL cube specs off DC website and it will do it's best to tear your truck apart. Level 5 is def a top sub. Get more power and have fun with it. That maxxlink will give you a clip light indicator so use it. 2K wont hurt a lvl 5 but if the signal is shit then you could have some trouble.

  5. In electronics you almost always get what you pay for. An amp made with high grade quality parts usually come under rated. (Almost always if your voltage will be above the 14.4 mark.) So you get more out of the rating when paying a little more money. Subs usually are no different, if you buy a "quality" built sub and running a clean signal you get more than rated plus you can recone if needed.

Quality over quantity ALL DAY LONG!!

Recone option comes in handy when beer gets involved and a big OOPS comes into play.

  6. Running 1 amp per coil is greater than strapping

Also if you mess up strapping amps say bye bye to the amps it's more safe and louder if you don't strap

Couldn't agree more. Just run them one off each coil. i would go with a D2 and run each amp 2ohm. If you get a DC Lvl4 with a 5coil like mine that shit will honk. I'm running about 1600w to each of mine and my Tahoe hits pretty good. Build your box to run your 18 on max SPL cubes, tune port to 32hz and enjoy brotha.

  7. Come on man if you dont know it would be alot louder with an upgrade like that then maybe you should stick with what you have. I sure your car rocks right now.

You start rocking that kind of power better make sure that electrical is up to snuff.

The set up your talking about would sound great in my Tahoe. Trade you my dog for it. He has one eye but that only makes for bad depth perception so hey so what if he is running into shit, look at it this way he is easy to sneak up ninja style on. (right side only)

  8. Since fiberglass is out of the question I would use the wood glue. Glue the wood together allow cure then use a thick layer of glue on outside of joint and allow the outside glue to seal any hard to see airpockets created. Head to Lowes or home depot to pick up a small can of quality wood sealant. (usually outdoor industrial grade) over the course of a few days add 5 or 6 coats to each joint area. This will provide additional strength and keep your wood solid during heavy humidity, pressure etc.

That is a cheap and easy way without fiberglass.

  9. I put an Air Raid on my 04 Tahoe and it didn't make any difference at all. Get a new intake system though. My AirRaid made a real good difference in acceleration, I have been happy with that upgrade. Here is the explaination thehoe92 hooked me up with when I asked the same question.

QUOTE Throttle body spacers (TBS) came about back in the time when TBI engines were the craze. The TBS did indeed help the TBIs as they helped to improve atomization of the fuel by changing the flow of air as the fuel was sprayed before the throttle body. The gains are minimal but are still there.

The TBS are a waste on the newer engines as the fuel is sprayed after the throttle body. The air is already "spun up" as it goes through the throttle body, so the TBS basically duplicates the effort. The TBS won't hurt your engine however, that being said, some folks wind up having problems with the spacer as it is one more thing to wiggle lose and cause leaks.

    that is from the tahoeyukonforum

  10. If you plan on Shoving beat into your Tahoe dont Worry about Upgrading the motor lol

Cold air intake and Exhaust is Good enough

And throttle body Spacer Does absolutley nothing.... They Sound Good thats FORSURE... but HP...lol

LOL. Hell yeah - My rear end sank 1.25 inches after my box, subs etc. Now I need the motor to get it moving a little better so I can at least stay close enough long enough to give the good ole #1 sign to whoever passes me!

    Any suggestions on exhaust systems?

From here I would say get a tune/chip from blackbearperformance.

they do a great job lots of people love them.

    click for awesome tune

I'm gonna look them up today.

    Hell yeah that was quick.
