I'm in Utah with ya man. Shit's lame. Had my first non-Utah beer a couple weekends ago and that shit hit me like a ton o' bricks. I'm used to being able to pound 3 or 4 beers here without anything but I had 5 in Idaho and I was

Correct.
Thank you.

Bangin caddy, thanks for the great info. That's exactly what I wanted to know. But in a simple dummy form for me, if I'm running more than one sub and I wire in parallel I would do the equation like this: 2 dual 8 ohm subs, take the 8 ohm then divide 4, I would be running at 2 ohms. If I wired them in series it would be: 2 dual 8 ohm subs, take the 8 ohm and multiply it by 4, I would be running at 32 ohms. Yes?
4 dual 2 ohm subs in parallel would be 2 ohm/8 = .25 ohm series would be 2 ohm(= 16 ohm

Let me Google that for you.
I didn't know it was Ohm's law... Thank you

I tried searching this one but couldn't find it... Maybe I'm retarded. Anyway, how do you know what OHM load your amp is at? I know there are diagrams and stuff to show you how to get different OHM loads but how do they figure it out?....

Thank you Nova. How did you find out if the amp was 1 ohm stable ? its an older model maybe 5 years old!
Google. Says it's rated @ 1 ohm. If you can get the part number of the amp I could double check for you.

I have an old kicker 1200.1 amplifier but I'm not sure what Ohm stability it has and I'm wanting to buy an Fi BL 18" dual 1 ohm. My question is what could happen if I wired the dual 1 ohm woofer up to my amp and my amp isnt 1 ohm stable? And how can I find out if my amp is?
Your amp is 1 ohm stable and if you're getting a BTL and want to run it @ 1 ohm get the dual 2 ohm then wire as so-

Nice work Steve. Just reading through everyone's builds I've learned some new shit. Can't wait to get a build of my own going one of these days. Love the Vinyl work on the box.

I'm in the same boat, trying to get a better bass set-up while staying right at a grand or less. I don't want to topic jack but I'm interested in what you guys have to say for just "pounding music". I'm looking for something with mad bass when I want it.

Are Hifonics amps not that great? I'm a newbie. =0

I looked at them but I can't afford $899 for an amp... BTL's say 2k RMS and people are running more but for the more inexperienced at wiring etc, stay close to the 2k... I will shoot him a PM on here and see if that helps. Keep suggestions coming please.
-And I will look at that Audioque

I tried to search for this but I stopped after page 4 of my search. Anyway, I ordered a fully loaded dual 2 ohm 18" BTL and I only have about $500 to spend on an amp and I want to keep it around $400 if possible. The only one I have found that looks decent in my price range is the Hifonics BXI 2610D. Inputs please.

are you goin to run a stock alternator or a HO alternator?either way i would run a extra battery that thing is gonna need power sumhow
It already has an HO alternator and my voltage meter goes from pegged at the top to barely moving down about a 1/16th of an inch when the bass hits... Mind you I'm not running anything awesome, 2x 760 watt amps and 2x Sony Xplod's... So going to the BL's should be a HUGE jump. Just gotta get the box plans right. I might see if someone can draw up a nice ported box setup for the BL's. I've only made 2x boxes so far... I'm graduating in less than a month and no more wood shop.

oh i didnt know.. my bad ! i dont have FI and just know their rms is around 1000 or 1500
Thanks for the input guys. So 1 of those amps should do just fine. Now should I add a battery in the back or will I be alright running just the one amp? I'm in a '93 S-10 Blazer in Mint condition.

i would say 2 1610 hifonics would be nice... or 1 2600 if you got d4 ohm config to wire to 1 ohm
I know nothing about wiring so... please explain? I've just read how to tune amps. I know very little about the details of wiring. I'll be researching alot when I actually get my new subs and amp to install them properly so any info you have I would love it.

I'm looking to upgrade my system and I'm not to knowledged on subs/amps, etc... So I've been browsing and I was wondering if the Hifonics Brutus amps are any good. I'm looking at getting 2 12" FI BL's for daily use and either 1 or 2 Hifonics BXI 2610D's. I'm sure I could get away with one but I'm not an audio guru, and it wouldn't be bad to have the amps ready for a sub upgrade if I wanted.
Any help is appreciated.
Also, Would I need an electrical upgrade with 2 of those amps? I already have a high output alternator running low grade sub/amp set up... 2x 12" Xplod's with 2x 760 W max amps.
How to stick it?

Winter is coming up and I'm driving an ice box in the morning and at night so I think I have the solution but have a few questions. So there's no headliner in my truck as it's a 1970, they didn't make them, so I'm thinking about making my own headliner for insulation reasons. I want to put some second skin sound damplifier on the roof followed by heatwave pro, then some black carpet. Now what could I use to get the insulation and carpet to stick to the roof? Would some headliner glue work or do you guys know of something that will work without falling off?
